He hit that wall hard and I just wanted to make sure he is okay. I was worried he may have a concussion or something similar. Any news??

Please keep Chris in your prayers for a full recovery. Things look a worse than expected. A neck injury on top of the concussion, so he may be done for the year (just speculation on my part).
He's a smart kid from a great family and had developed into an important piece of the LSU baseball puzzle. He was really showing a lot of dependability in the field, at bat, bunting, and good speed on bases. Hopefully he'll be back in uniform soon, but at times there are more important things than baseball.

I watched on Justin TV. For those that didn't see it, he laid out for a ball in centerfield. The back of his head hit the base of the wall as he was going down. He was upside down with his legs in the air, and his body weight bent his neck back as he came down. He didn't move for a while after landing, but got up and walked off the field, but you could tell that he was still hurting.

So your neck injury and "out for the year" comments are based only on what you saw and not on information from the athletic department?

Are you serious? Have you heard this from anyone?

I'd like some clarification on this as well.

This is true. He has a neck injury. You will have your confirmation in a few days when LSU feels it is appropriate to release it.

"Out for the year" is totally my speculation based on injury and the fact that it's late March. I'm not a physician but it seems LSU only has about 75 to 80 days of baseball left in 2012. No one wants him back sooner than me and his family.
Not confirmed through athletic department but think about it, BR is a very small town.

Do you know him or his family? I'm actually good friends with him so I'm trying to find this out.

Kevin Berry just tweeted this: LINK
I don't think a teammate would say something like that just to blow smoke. Prayers for Chris.

Just heard he will be moved to a bigger hospital in Montgomery. He is a nice guy and a true tiger. Keep him in your prayers.

shite. I was there in person and saw him jump up for it and go down, but I had no idea how he landed. I just knew that I was expecting him to get up and go for the ball and he didn't. It was kind of weird watching the rest of the play go on while he just lied there lifeless.
Hope everything is ok and he makes a quick recovery.

Outside of thinking baseball... how serious is the injury? Never good when necks are involved. Prayers to him and his family.
