I couldn't tell you that. More details will come out over the week, I assume. So I guess we'll figure that out later.

Bad neck injury. A lot more serious than a concussion.

Man I hope he is all right. Not just from a baseball perspective, because we'll miss him, but everything I have read makes him sound like a great kid

Very solid young man. My daughter is a friend of his. I have met him on a number of occasions and he is a fine young man. I hope he will be ok. He was making the most of his oppourtunity.

Auburn was first class and flew him back to BR last night. Good news is that neck is stable and he should make a complete recovery. Medical and injury issues are sensitive, so I'll leave it to LSU to release news on his playing status.

via his father....
He has a fractured C1 vertebrae but it is a stable fracture. There is no cord damage. He will be in a neck brace for 3 months and then go through rehab.

Wow. That is huge.

Sucks for the team but sucks even more for Sciambra. I feel for the kid and hope he has a speedy recovery.

Good thing the trainers didn't make this worse by walking him off the field and not strapping his head up.

Said in jest I assume, since Chris walked off of the field.

Actually, I'd told the Auburn training class provided fantastic care and the athletic department was first class in putting him on their leer jet back to BR last night.

Hope he recovers fully and is able to play after that.

Any chance of medical redshirt or did he already play too many games?

I think he had in the neighborhood of 60 at bats, so I wouldn't think medical redshirt is a possibility.

He had really developed into one of LSU's most consistent players. I think he's batted around .333 since the Tulane game. Very dependable in the field and executing sac bunts whenever asked to.

I was at the game. It was not a pretty sight. Heck of a effort on his part, but it was a nasty collision. Please keep him in your prayers.

He also had the highest GPA on the team last semester. A true student athlete and great kid.
