I agree with you that he has promise. The coaches might have restricted him too much in the first half. I do think he needs to show more poise, but I think that will come with time. In particular he needs to learn how to fade back and draw the rush in on screens. Had those plays been executed properly they could have been big plays for us.

Well put. Now is not the time for a true freshman to take the reins. We woulda lost to Ark last year if Jennings wouldn't have come in IMO

Some of his passes were scary accurate

Agreed. He had good touch on some deep passes. Like any pass to dural. And delivered some balls on a "frozen rope." Like the one to diarse.

The kid is a winner, I'll give him that. Can't wait to watch him progress as the season goes on.

I just went back watching the film and watched the first screen pass to Magee on 3rd and 5 about 4-5 times. It was a good throw, but it was just a tad high for Magee. He fired it in there. A lot of it is because he had 3 guys in his face and he got rid of it quick. It was a GREAT call though - there was no one in the screen in front of Magee. If that pass it completed, it could have gone for 20 yards and LSU's offense would have been rolling.

It was just a tad high.

Jennings will get better with that. Everything was perfect except for a bit too much velocity and it was just a bit high for Magee. Man, that would have been a beautiful play.

Best post of the day. I guess I don't hate you right now.

You should pay better attention to my posts. I saw you come after me yesterday but I let it go, recognizing that I was being kind of harsh. I am almost ALWAYS positive and am a fierce defender of the Tigers on the SEC Rant. I have just gotten aggravated with the DLine stuff the last few years. In reality, it probably goes back to Anthony Johnson and his play. The thread was deleted, so I'll let that go and not bring it up again. Lesson learned.

I think two of those he was forced to throw the ball too soon due to somebody missing a block and the defender was about to demolish him. screen passes are truly a team event. and don't forget the middle screen and it worked. we just to work on it more; I hope we don't abandon it as it will be sorely needed when the pass rush becomes unbearable.

Diarse and Dural are obviously better than I imagined but everyone looked capable.

And remember that the secondary for UW was supposed to be the best part of their returning D. Diarse, Dural, Quinn, Dupre and even Leslie have track speed to go with fine WR ability. The next few weeks you'll see much work on the short, touch passing game, but the Tigers will likely continue to throw 3-5 deep balls a game as both young QB's have strong arms. This offense will wind up averaging over 400 ypg when all is said and done.

He looked good in the second half. Will be a very capable QB if he continues to progress.

I'm not singling this poster out, but I continually see people post as if there still needs to be a competition between Harris and Jennings.

It's not even a competition anymore......Jennings is obviously the starter, as he should be

Could be he's got a shot at being a damn good QB for LSU. I like what I see of him, even in the iowa game last year. a learning curve is a learning curve.

He has proven to play well against Big 10 competition, ie Burt's "ARkansas" team, Iowa and Wisconsin...no SEC type scary talent yet...food for thought

Just rewatched the 1st quarter. LSU is clearly the better team. A few bad decisions made the difference in that quarter.

Jennings should have given the ball to LF instead of keeping it on the 6 yard loss.

A few inches to the left and Quinn catches that deep ball.

Kwon and Hunter got tied up on the big run for the TD.

Little things.

But, LSU was much faster, even from the beginning of the game.

I never understood people being critical of him in the first half. Once we he got the call to do what a qb is suppose to do, he answered like a pro.

I was saying at during the first half "stop complaining about AJ, it is the coaches play calling that were setting the whole team up to fail.

Sure he wasn't perfect but hopefully people don't hold him to the standard of perfection that Les is held to.
