A little over year ago, Eyanson started his final college season slowly at Louisiana State after transferring from UC San Diego. However, as the season progressed, he played a key role in helping the Tigers win the 2025 national championship. Now, in his first taste of pro ball between High-A Greenville and Double-A, he ranks fourth in Boston's system with 64 strikeouts and would lead in ERA (1.07) and opponent batting average (.149) if he had enough requisite innings to qualify. “Sometimes I’m out there throwing warmup pitches and think to myself, 'I’ve come a long way for a guy who grew up wanting to play football,'" Eyanson said. "It’s fun to be able to go back into my camera roll and go through memories of LSU, Lakewood High School or Lakewood Little League and see how far I’ve come.”

He is 2-0 with an ERA of 1.48 at Portland.

In 7 starts at Portland he has pitched 30.1 IP with 30 K's

The only thing Boston does well these days is pitcher development. He’s really taken off in that system.

Money brings in good pitchers. These kids could care less about Skenes, Eyanson or Anderson and the legacy they left at LSU.

That’s not really true. Getting noticed and being developed are basically everything in baseball, and it clearly worked out for all of those guys. Particularly with transfers. You got one more year to make a draft push, where you goes matters. It’s pitching, you will get playing time if you are good enough

But of course, money also matters

Eyanson was soo good last year it shocked me he went as late as he did.

He actually younger than Kade by a couple of months.

His biggest knock was his fb was good not great but he clearly had room to develop physically.

There were stretches last year where he was better than Kade. Of course there were stretches where Kade was better and he’s a lefty.

The Red Sox drafted two other SEC pitchers before him, and paid them both more money. Witherspoon got $5MM, Marcus Phillips got $2.5MM.

Eyanson is flying up the org levels with an outside chance of making the majors this year. Witherspoon and Phillips are both still in High A.

Now, I think the Red Sox had a really good draft and all three pitchers will probably pitch in the majors at some point. But Eyanson was a fricking steal for them.

I think the report was he’s a high floor lower ceiling guy.

They got his velocity up and basically blew up his ceiling.

One of my favorite players on a team of favorite players.

You can really tell what teams are special.

And that would be incorrect but nice try though. You got me fuked up with Hold That Tiger 10 he is the one who bashes every day.

What i said was his first 2 starts were average. He didn't look like a good pitcher those first 2 starts. He didn't have that wow factor. And i called it like i see it.

LOL. They do care about the tradition. They see guys like Skenes and Jump doing well in the majors AND how quickly they are getting there. Sure, they are choosing LSU because the money can be almost as good as going pro, but they also see how LSU is developing pitchers to be pro-ready.

In the Minors or AA?
I thought his first start in AA?
In his first two games at Portland he pitched nine innings gave up one run on a home run. The first game was four innings with one run. The second one was five innings with no hit and no runs obviously.
I say he started AA very well.
Would you agree?
