One of the LSU pod casters mentioned the Wildcats struggling vs slot WRs so I looked at their games this season:

Youngstown St - 111yds. Season total 420yds
A&M - 119 yds. Season total 235yds. Next highest game - 41yds
S. Alabama - 91 yds and only TD on season. Season total 261yds. Next highest game 74yds
USCe - 92 yds. Season total 201yds. Next highest game - 39yds

Bama was the only game where the slot WR didn't have a high output.

This should be a game where Sam can feast with Watkins, his favorite WR. Weather may force more of a ground attack where UK is vulnerable as well, but if Sam has to throw, Winnie Watkins should be open early and often.

LSU is a really bad matchup for Kentucky. They've got the crowd and I guess the weather now going in their favor. That's about it.

Watkins being open in only half the battle.

The McNeese game was bad, really bad. But, he has been Sam's most reliable WR this season and he's getting far more separation than the other receivers.

He can catch just fine, his focus and effort is what I'm more concerned about. Hopefully just an off game but I don't love it

Interesting stats

Winnie Watkins' catch rate for the season: 65.7%, 23 catches in 35 targets, 12 Drops

LSU as a team: 62.8%, 113 catches in 180 targets, 67 drops.

LSU other than Watkins: 62.1%, 90 catches in 145 targets, 55 drops.

Watkins has 20.3% of the catches on 19.44% of the targets.

Draops have been an issue for this team in general.

That stat has to be wrong. No way LSU has 67 drops on the season.

Last year Maryland led the NCAA with 39 total drops. Are counting all incompletions as drops? They are not the same thing.

Not for Corey Barber…. He has caught everything so far in a limited capacity.

Are we counting bad passes as drops or strictly passes that hit the WR in the hands?

Could be wrong; I went with AI stats because catch rates for the NCAA are not that easy to find, and I was feeling lazy.

Good question; I was lazy and went with AI stats.

We don't drop 10+ catches a game

Those stats are not correct, tell your AI prompt to recheck and repost

I think it's possible Watkins doesn't start. Send a message to him and the team.

It's clear that the metric is counting targets and catches so you'd have to look elsewhere for better data.
