Unfortunately, College Football is forever changed. The top talents don't truly care which uniform they wear. They will go to the place that gives them the best opportunity to get to the next level. That's it. End of story. With NIL, transfer portals and opt outs, the players can just go where they want, get paid and move on. It's going to look more like basketball where you might get two years out of your top talent before they are gone. There will be those that come and play because they want to be here and believe in foundational values like commitment, loyalty, honor, character. The rest are just in it for the money and fame. This is not a comment on whether or not they deserve it or worked hard to get where they are. It just is what it is. Within this is the disconnect between players and fans. As fans we have a deep rooted loyalty and love of our University and our teams. Some of these players, not all, do not have that same connection. What's in it for me? We get frustrated because they don't have the same commitment that we do or that we want them to have.
It's frustrating but you're going to have to just settle in and enjoy what you've got while you've got it because it's not going to last long. A good life lesson.
I just can't imagine the challenge of being a head coach in this day. A constant revolving door of coaches and players. You're essentially rebuilding, reshuffling, and adjusting constantly. At least every couple of years. The landscape is constantly in motion.
To address this you absolutely must continue to stock the program with the best players and best coaches in the country. You can't afford a drop off in production because tomorrow the names will definitely be different. You must be able to pull the next one off the shelf and put them on the field. One Stingley should not make or break a defense. You need several.

If you commit to do something you should finish and if the money is the driving force then just opt out and quit hurting the team by pretending to be a player. He quit against UCLA, looked like a tier two player at best.

But that doesn’t appear to be the case so I wouldn’t expect a slow down anytime soon
Only way I see this happening is if the players who opt out tend to underperform compared to where they were picked. There needs to be a trend… i.e. not Jamarr Chase. But I don’t see that happening either.

Stingley reinjured something. They need to decide to let it heal completely and pack it in, or give it another go after a few weeks of rest.
If it's really a lisfranc injury, they might be having to decide between surgery and letting it rest again for a few weeks. I'm unsure of the percentages, but I believe a good deal of those injuries do need surgery.

Again, He's hurt.
IF (and its a completely fabricated IF at this point) he decides to sit out the rest of the year even after he heals we can have conversations on guys quitting but as of now, Stingley is out because he's hurt not because he quit.

So if your wife was getting dicked down on the side by multiple men & you found out, would you still honor your commitment?

Stay with the team and heal. If he’s 100% later on in the season and we have a chance at something legit then bring him back. If we’re looking at .500 in the face then it’s been real and I hope he goes on to be an all-pro ambassador for LSU
I know we’re using Chase’s full year opt out as a measurement but if Stingley opts out due to injury, his 5th injury in 2 seasons, I can’t imagine his stock won’t fall at least a little bit.
Chase and Marshall went out on their own terms.

UCLA was a fore warning of the inevitable. NIL money this year, NFL money next year. Time to protect the golden goose.

This is bullshite. He missed one tackle, and yeah, it looked bad, but he's been flying around the last two games.

This upcoming generation couldn't hold previous generations jock straps when it comes to toughness and commitments.

It's pretty obvious how things are going to play out based on what has been confirmed by other sources.
Stingley reinjured something. They need to decide to let it heal completely and pack it in, or give it another go after a few weeks of rest. Regardless of that choice he's going to miss a few weeks.
In 6 weeks, if LSU is still in contention I'm pretty confident Stingley is back out there. There's just no way he doesn't play if LSU is by some act of God, in the hunt come November.
If in 6 weeks LSU has fired Coach O and is battling Vandy for the bottom of the SEC then honestly I wouldn't blame him for calling it a day.
I think there is a log of question about whether the injury is a 6 week injury.
If it truly was a 6 week injury, he’d be right not to return assuming LSU isn’t miraculously at 2-3 losses.
The smartest thing the Stingley camp could do is release the severity of the injury and, if serious like you suggest, lay the groundwork now fry at they will make a decision then.
If they lie about the severity and overstate it, it will get out.

That is the stupidest argument I’ve hear today, and that says a lot.
Commitment was over when the wife decided to get dicked, So you saying he being benched by LSU, or LSU is seeing someone else?

If I were Stingley, I'd never play another down for LSU. Not worth the risk.

I know what I would do. I am old school, taught by my Dad like I think many others here were also. You honor your commitments.
Lmao you absolutely wouldn't do this, but that's okay. If you had the chance to make millions of dollars for certain, and you had the ability to either (a) lock in those millions, or (b) risk losing a big chunk with no upside whatsoever, you would not choose choice (b). If you say that you would, you're either a moron or a liar.
This shite about being "old school" and "my daddy taught me!" is embarrassing lol. Your old school daddy was never an athlete with a body worth 8-9 figures of generational wealth.

Yep, and during preseason the talk was Chase was rusty, dropping balls, and the Cinncy fans(just like us) said:
1. He should’ve played
2. We should’ve drafted the OT from Oregon
3. Burrow had too much say
AND then right on cue he goes out with 100yds and a TD
We are in a different world of college football right now, Sting won’t be back and he’ll be drafted HIGH regardless and be just who we know he is A Great DB.
The only difference is this sht don’t happen in Bama.

The draft is a meritocracy. That means that guys who sit out won't get bumped down draft boards arbitrarily--they'll only get bumped down draft boards if teams think that sitting out decreases their expected level of performance.
And given the way that chase, sewell, and micah parsons are absolutely tearing it up, that seems to pretty clearly not be the case.
Accordingly, if you're stingley, what possible reason do you have to come back and play if LSU has 3-4 losses by the time you're healthy? The answer is none. Stingley doesn't owe LSU a single goddamn thing. Would i personally like to see him play? Of course. But the fact is that, in such a scenario, there is no conceivable manner in which playing could possibly benefit him--it could only hurt him. So why do it?
Posted on 9/24/21 at 1:49 pm to LifeAquatic
You play if your healthy because you’re a member of this team. He might not owe LSU anything, but he owes his teammates to give it his all if he’s able to play. If he’s injured, that’s a different story. Your line of thinking is part of the problem. I don’t give a damn about anything else but myself.
