It's pretty obvious how things are going to play out based on what has been confirmed by other sources.

Stingley reinjured something. They need to decide to let it heal completely and pack it in, or give it another go after a few weeks of rest. Regardless of that choice he's going to miss a few weeks.

In 6 weeks, if LSU is still in contention I'm pretty confident Stingley is back out there. There's just no way he doesn't play if LSU is by some act of God, in the hunt come November.

If in 6 weeks LSU has fired Coach O and is battling Vandy for the bottom of the SEC then honestly I wouldn't blame him for calling it a day.

Yeah we are far removed from the golden age of CFB in the early 2000's where guys like Glenn Dorsey and Jacob Hester gave up their literal bodies to play. But this is reality. I can't say what I'd do looking at a multi million dollar contract.

I know what I would do. I am old school, taught by my Dad like I think many others here were also. You honor your commitments. If you will quit now you will quit later when things get rough and it becomes habit. I know this isn’t popular opinion these days. I know I know before anyone says it “get off my lawn”

I agree, and with NIL here it makes it look even worse to me, getting paid already, which is what everyone's been crying for, but if conditions aren't optimum here I'll just check out and wait for a better deal?

Everyone on this board is cheap so you would think they would empathize with these young men

It’s obvious you don’t see penalties for sitting out (ie Jamarr Chase). It’ll only get worse

You don't know what you would do because you were never blessed with the ability for any of this to ever be a consideration.

I would love to see the statistic on high profile players getting hurt and then opting out under Orgeron.. it seems to be a theme.

I think Stingley is done regardless of what happens. Culotta was on his show this morning laying the framework. I will be shocked if we ever see him suited up for LSU again.

You’re pretty spot on.

It’s in everyone’s best interest to do this:

Stay with the team and heal. If he’s 100% later on in the season and we have a chance at something legit then bring him back. If we’re looking at .500 in the face then it’s been real and I hope he goes on to be an all-pro ambassador for LSU

This! Being in contention keeps players on the field, this is how Saban year in and year out keeps his players from opting out. Also expanding playoff where you could potentially have multiple teams from west in contention would help keep players on the field.

Having an injury that prevents you from playing safely is not the same thing as quitting.

Dad didn’t have a contract worth millions on the line. He needs to do what’s best for him.

The only way for the opt outs to stop is for NFL teams to knock those guys down their draft boards

But that doesn’t appear to be the case so I wouldn’t expect a slow down anytime soon

that won't happen, the NFL loves it, they want their product to show up with the least amount of wear and tear

This is so dumb

Whatever your dad taught you is not in the same realm as to what Stingley is facing.

He came here and was a significant piece of a national championship team. It's not like he's a Freshman

That's simplistic thinking.

His NFL future is and should be more important than LSU.

On the flip side, if he doesn't play again, he is quitting, and LSU is under no obligation to support him any longer.

Why do people feel the need to put a timeline on an injury they know nothing about? "TD Medical expert says Stingley is out for a few to 6 weeks with injury"

Let the athletic trainers do their job & wait for an update. Honestly, he wasn't even ruled out for Saturday's game - yes, he probably will be - but as of now he is "very questionable". He originally injured this during camp & sat out for maybe 2-3 weeks? If they win this week, he wants to play against Aub and/or Florida.
Throwing out a number like 6 weeks is nonsense
