No it wasn't. It was a bad hire through the 2017 season, to his credit Ed Ogeron adapted after that first season, signed a generational QB and eventually brought in Joe Brady to overall the offense, none of that was apparent in Nov 2016.

Part of the reason i was skeptical was because if this. He had a nice win over Stanford but also lost to ND and UCLA, their 2 biggest rivals then here he lost to Bama (OK, that was understandable) but also to Florida, every other game were games he was supposed to win. I wasn't sure if he was capable of getting over that hump and doing better than 9-3/10-2 type season like 2018.

Same here honestly. I thought it was a better hire than some did, but I'd be lying if I told you I thought national titles were in the near future.
