look i'll admit that the kid played his arse off whenever he was in the game but to say that he was an SEC-caliber quarterback is just ridiculous
he had probably the worst arm for a quarterback than any qb in the sec...he had to basically throw his arm out to get it 25 yards down the field
of the passes he did complete, i'd say 35-50% of those were bubble screens
those people that are saying he would get some pt next year are just stupid and for some reason loyal to this kid...Jefferson will start and RS will come in for designed runs and play some WR
Hatch would have been 4th string next year

Can't blame the guy for going back to Harvard, if that's where he ends up. It's a great opportunity. From an LSU football perspective, this makes it that much more important to retain Lee. As we saw first hand this year, experience is extremely important. JJ looked good, but if LSU were to lose both Lee and Hatch, then they would be one injury away from being right back in the situation that they were in this year with two inexperienced frosh QBs (Shep and Garrett).

80 whole yrds passing??? are you serious
He was affective running because defenses were so shocked that such a spindly kid would attempt it.

...and before anyone posts on how great RS is, he is still a freshman. I've watched alot of game film on this kid, and more than a few times said "that pass would have been picked off at the college level". He's a tremendous talent, but he deserves the opportunity to learn before before thrown to the wolves as "the guy" at QB as does Garrett.

Hatch seems like a good kid. I have never met him.
He represented LSU well off the field.
If we were to have to relly on him in the future, we would be in REAL trouble. He DOES NOT have an SEC caliber arm. Defenses do not respect the deep pass when he is under center. The traditional running game is hurt by having to face "8 men in the box". This is obvious.
All other allegations about presence in the huddle, frail body, etc. are rediculous.
Good luck in your future endeavors, whatever they entail. As long as you are not playing against the Tigers, I'm pulling for you.
Once a TIGER always a Tiger.

I think you put it best when you said the team was missing something without Hatch. I really though he grounded the team well.
Jarett Lee is not yet the leader we need him to be, and Hatch was there to provide a calming influence. He made not have made all the plays, but one thing he did was help us WIN (i realize many will find this debatable). He didn't put us in holes we needed to dig ourselves out of, and he put Jarrett Lee in a position to do what he did best.
That's my 2 cents anyway

I agree to your points. I also think defenses had realized his lack of arm strength and that was hurting us. With him in the game we would face 8 man fronts, no doubt. He fulfilled his role. Future success for him on the field at LSU is doubtful against all except those weaker teams that could not stop our run by stacking the box. Just my opinion. Good Luck and Good bye.

lets dont get it twisted, hatch was terrible. he was a good guy but come on. hatch had:
below average arm
average mobility
couldn't read defenses for shite
and you could tell all of this in games against cupcakes and a half at auburn.

Great post Doc. Hatch contributed to LSU victories and showed great heart in doing so. Glad he was able to pick up a NC ring while here. Can you imagine the attention he'll draw with that wherever he goes ? Good Luck Andrew.

Sec Caliber or not, he busted his arse for LSU. He fractured a leg and received a concussion for LSU.
He played very hard. My favorite play was when he trucked Brandon Spikes for the TD.
Best of luck to him. He has a NC ring and a Harvard Degree. What more could you ask for?

Great post Doc!
IMO, had Hatch been available to spell Lee for a set of downs or a possession Lee would have benefited tremendously. Unfortunately, once Hatch went out, and Les trying redshirt JJ, and the defense disappointing, too much fel on JL's shoulders.
We missed Hatch far more than for his raw football ability.
Best wishes Andrew at Harvard.
