Andrew Del Peiro (tuba) was one of the better players on the team

Under Johnny Jones...
Let that sink in, Trent Johnson/Johnny Jones had let things get so bad that we had a 7 foot band nerd playing center... Eddie Ludwig is was also our “sharp shooter” Jesus Christ what a far cry that is from the team we’re putting on the court today. God bless you Will Wade

No he wasn't. He almost never shot 3s

Johnny Jones had some pretty good players on his teams as well though. It just didn't work out.

The direction you were going I get, the delivery was mind bogglingly bad and misinformed

Rear view mirror. Why look back?
And those guys you mentioned, although not talented, played hard.

Mickey
Martin
O’Bryant
Simmons
Blakeney
Hornsby
Victor
Stringer
Hickey
Carmouche
Coleman
Quarterman
Sampson
Gray
It wasn’t a talent problem with Johnny. Also, Johnny’s seasons were never horrendous besides the last one. Sure, the Simmons year should have been better but they went 11-7 in the league (admittedly a weak SEC).

That’s racist and I’m offended by your stereotyping us white boys.

He averaged 13 minutes a game, 4 ppg, 3 rpg, and 1 bpg. He shot 55% from the line, and for a 7-3 260 kid he was soft as silk underneath.
I am NOT shitting on the kid, but c'mon. He was NOT one of the "better" players on the team.

I can't believe Johnny couldn't get Martin and Mickey to stick around to play with Ben Simmons. They must have hated Johnny.

Wtf are you talking about he wasn’t even close to one of the better players
Posted on 2/13/19 at 9:58 pm to deathvalleyfreak43
Darren Populist was our go-to guard back in the day

Del Peiro dominated Malcom White in practice

Del Peiro was 7th on the team in minutes played and put up a whopping 4 points and 3 boards in his best season. Even if you determined who the “better players” were by dividing the team in half, he was not one of the better players.
Eddie Ludwig shot 34 threes in 100 games at LSU. His career 3pt % was 20. He was by no means a sharpshooter.
This post is the equivalent of saying Trindon Holliday was a great pass rusher and Russell Shepard was our starting quarterback. Couldn’t be further from the truth.

gotta admit seeing Alvin Kamara and Zeke Elliot playing on the Defensive Line in the Pro Bowl reminded me instantly of those Holliday memes

Band nerd? How many points did you average, arse?
Posted on 2/14/19 at 7:07 am to deathvalleyfreak43
Actually he wasn't, but he did play about 10 minutes a game in SEC play some games a little bit more than that, most not.
I think many folks did use that as a reason why CJJ was doing a great job...perfect example of rationalizing.

CJJ was doing a tremendous job. The program was trending up. He just needed more time to fix the roster mismanagement of the previous coach. 5-6 years is hardly enough to do that when you have a complete rebuild
