Coach O really needs to nail his coordinator hires to be successful. I hope he can find a good replacement for pelini. it can't get much worse then what weve seen this year on defense.

The win against Florida was wonderful and we got great performances from freshmen and third stringers. That said the defense still gave up big plays, especially passes and except for a penalty that changed their decision to kick a field goal we would have been tied at the end of the game and going into overtime. Add into that a truly freakish interception off of a helmet bounce and the fact that we had to have a school record 57 yard field goal to win and their great kicker misses one from 51?

So it feels great to have a win over a good team but does that really mean we have solved our problems and everything is fixed for the future? If Polini is fired and O doesn't pick a winner, I think he is done. After all, he promised us as part of his package that he would hire the best OC and DC's available and then stay out of their way and let them do their thing.

coaching has a lot to do with how bad this defense is. No adjustments, blown coverages, not knowing assignments is all coaching.

Was it lucky that half the starters had opted out, then half the starters were injured.
Was it talented freshmen or well coached freshmen that made the difference?
How many freshmen and sophomore contributed to the win?

We gave up too many big plays, but we played well in the red zone and had three consecutive 3 and outs in the second half.
Somebody is coaching.

I’m waiting for the mass lamentations by the negatigers when we win today. It will be glorious.
