Seems like I'm not the only one in this situation. I'm only 29 but I've got to get better at being so emotional about it. I let it ruin my day when we lose. My whole day today was pretty depressing after that gut punch last night I took from basketball and baseball. I may have to just step away for a while and not be so committed.

You must be manic depressive after this basketball season.

Starting sentences with "Am I the only one" is a sign of narcissism. Of course you're not the only one. The majority of those who watch get too emotionally invested. Am I the only one who gets this?

I feel the same way as well. I root as hard as I can. sometimes, it seems LSU head coaches lack the passion we do. I understand they are protecting their jobs, but I don't see that hate to lose mentality. It looks like a player like Mickey takes the loss worse than his coach. Miles has the same it's not my fault mentality. We play not to lose.

I never get too emotionally involved. Now, please excuse me while I watch 45 minutes of Big Cat videos.

I used to be the same way. Its difficult not to identify with a school that has been part of my life almost from day one. I Grew up pulling for LSU, attended and graduated from the university and had the whole LSU experience as part of my DNA.
Eventually I had to come to the realization I was making myself sick over the results produced by teenage kids and it was then that I began to add some perspective to my fanhood.
Today I pull just as hard for the Fighting Tigers but realize these are just games. I'm disappointed with a loss and elated with a win but I no longer allow either state to linger for very long.

Absolutely not, a true fan are you and myself, I try but loosing sets me back. I am much better than I was when I was younger.

It is embarrassing to admit, but I cannot watch a live football game. I DVR them and watch when I can. I will go to games and it seems easier to watch them in person. Hurts, but it seems easier. I will cheer for ANYTHING LSU, but cannot stand basketball (of any kind). Heading out to Bay hill tomorrow to cheer on John Peterson. David Toms did not make it this year, so I will just have to cheer on JP.
Just ruins my weekend and makes family life harder when I get too invested.
I'm old.

Anyone that attended lsu and loves the sports teams is going to be emotionally invested to a degree. If you say you're not....you're a fricking liar and a hypocrite. You don't have to turn in your man card because you care.
I know, some of you are "too cool" to admit it.....it might make you look vulnerable and my heavens....we can't have that on an Internet chat room now can we! How embarrassing!
Stop acting like total diks because some guys choose to be more passionate than others.
And if "grow up" is all ya got 06....your shite is weak.
Balls you just need to sign off permanently apparently since you don't care about anything except acting like a total know-it-all douche bag on the Internet!

You apparently haven't come to terms with the sports fans given...your favorite team will lose.
So, getting "pissed off" bout something you know will happen and happens to all programs, doesn't make much sense. imo
I get disappointed for the players cause I know how much time and effort they put in, but cant say I ever get pissed.
