Not a liberal (voted Trump 3x) and I promise you having the governor this involved publicly is terrible news for the LSU football program. To say the ill informed things he said (A&M buyout, general understanding of modern college football contracts, etc) will only hurt the search.

What he is talking about should all happen behind the scenes. He is prone to interjecting himself publicly into things unnecessarily and before thinking about the ramifications of opening his mouth. I happen to agree with many of his conservative views. But thus far, I'm not impressed with his leadership skills. At all.

That's bad publicity no matter what the situation. Landry can think and feel whatever he wants; that's his perogative, but when you do this and make this a much messier situation than what it needs to be, what coach decent coach with a pulse would want to come here and deal with this. I get he wants his hands on this and be the face of this, but it's about LSU not him. Kelly isn't bigger than LSU and sure as hell not Landry. Don't care what political views you follow. The optics of this is shitty. The boosters need to step in and get him to reel it in a bit on this because if they screw this up, then Landry is fricked.

Agree. However, he really needs to stay in his lane. State governance is that lane. College football and the necessary coaches is NOT his lane.
