Could the Board see the proposal for the Fargas contract extension, think about it logically for 3 seconds, and say "GTFO. We will not approve this"? Has this ever happened to our knowledge? What would happen if this occurred?

It depends on what the Gov tells 'em to do.

I am usually not as negative about Alleva as many on the Rant but this puzzles the crap out of me.
A program that once went to five straight final fours is now in the dustbin of the SEC. It started with the crappy hire of Van Chancellor but Vargas has hit new lows.
This woman has done nothing to merit an extension.
WTF?

I doubt the WBB coach at LSU is very high on the gov’s radar, particularlycoming off these consecutive special sessions.

Nikki's Career at LSU

Year 1: 23-11 (Second Round Appearance)
Year 2: 22-12 (NCAA Sweet Sixteen)
Year 3: 21-13 (NCAA Sweet Sixteen)
Year 4: 17-14 (NCAA First Round)
Year 5: 10-21 (No NCAAT Appearance)
Year 6: 20-18 (NCAA First Round
Year 7: 19-8 (NCAA First Round)

LSU's best run came at the begging of the hire with another coaches players and with the luxury of playing at home for the NCAAT. She has not advanced past the first round away from home.

The talent level has gone down since the first years. It just doesn't make any sense

Top it all off we haven’t been ranked nationally 80-90% of the time

Her sec record is even worse

Coaches rarely go into the last year of their contract. It's extend her or fire her.

In this sport especially talent matters a lot more so than coaching, not saying coaching isn’t important

There is a pretty substantial gap in the talent levels across women’s basketball at the college level

That's true but if the tenure's getting stale then usually you might give the extension but the buyout is greatly reduced in case you have to make a change soon. She's got little leverage so the buyout should be like 100 instead of 200. Alleva doesn't know how to protect himself, see O's buyout even though he had even less leverage.

It is absolutely criminal what she is being paid not to mention, how in the hell does she still have a job. I am convinced that she has some deep in the closet dirt on JA.

That's an easy riddle to answer.

Maybe a lot of it has to do with the product being put on the floor?

Nikki Fargas is not worth the money they are paying her....Underachiever since she has been here and is not the person to take us to heights we've never been before.
And D.D. Breaux is making way less?

LSU has no other black coaches of note

I should be smart enough to leave this subject along... but anyway...

We do have the HIGHEST paid coordinator/assistant coach in ALL of the NCAA, any sport, any level. That’s pretty noteworthy.

Alleva is using the La Tech Lady Techster model and just let it go and erode to just another Title IX money loser.
the Lady Techsters were just a product of caring about WBB first
