Woodward may be keeping things quiet in Baton Rouge but the coaches in Omaha not so much. LSU now has an agreement with Arizona coach Jay Johnson. Sorry it took someone from Tennessee to break the news but hey it’s a great hire that fans can be excited about.

All signs point to Vitello? Not really, all signs are more than likely pointing to Chuck Dees, a name nobody is talking about.

GoVols247 seems to think differently, based on their recent tweet

I can't link it, but they said $2.2MM expected to sign deal at conclusion of Tennessee's CWS run.

All you did here was to gussy up your opinion as a deduction. The deductive process leaves more than just Vitello in play; then you wrote, "I just don't see..." And that's where we leave logic and enter the mind of ibleedprplngld.

Brent Hubbs with Tennessee
"Tennessee hoping LSU makes a hire shortly or things with Vitello will get interesting real fast"

McDonnel or Godwin would've been announced by now as neither is playing ball anymore.

UVA has a ton of built-in advantages. Top 10 athletic program and top 20 academic nationally. Donors with big pockets. Drop-dead gorgeous college town 2 hours from talent-rich DC. Football has sucked
but that's improving.
LSU fan since birth, but i've been a UVA fan since the 90s and in that time I'm pretty certain we've never lost a coach to another program. Tough place to leave.
That said - the LSU job is tops in the nation without a doubt. So despite PM's recent interview, i'll remain worried about BOC until this is over with.

It would be FAR easier to pull O'Connor.
Doesn't have the built in advantages, is in a weaker conference, and hasn't had the same recent success as Corbin.

..ok ...soooo, we can’t interview prospective coaching candidates before the tourney without being able to wait til tourney is over to finish interviewing other candidates?
Sure, but you don’t delay your own program that way without at least a high level of confidence based on feedback from those coaches. This isn’t a deal where there’s been no preliminary contact to gauge interest.
Woodward obviously feels good about someone still coaching. He’s not just waiting til the cws is over to see if those guys might wanna talk

There isn’t any way that all prospective candidates still playing are gonna tell LSU they aren’t interested. Zero chance
And a few weeks isn’t a delay..

I’m just saying if you’re in Woodward’s shoes, you’ve probably vetted enough to know who is legitimately interested if not already told you they’d take the job
He’s proven he knows how to navigate the coaching search process pretty well.
I get the sense he’s pretty aggressive and not gonna sit around waiting unless he feels really really confident

The offer does include everything he wants financially and in commitment to facility upgrades.
While they have agreed to the upgrades and what not; isn’t there still some sort of disagreement btw TV and DW about exactly how to carry out those upgrades? I read that the upgrades that DW wants to do; was like building a new stadium OFF CAMPUS that would/could accommodate more fans. And the stadium would really only be used for the bigger games. I agree with TV if this is true; bc If I was a coach I would not like 1). Having to travel (anywhere really, even if it’s only a couple miles away) for a home game. I would want all the advantages that come from on site stadiums. 2). I wouldn’t like not having strictly one stadium. Different playing surfaces/environments depending on opponent. (Even though; if we really dive deep into this; you could say that technically you could really intimidate a team depending upon which stadium you chose to play them in, lol). Like wouldn’t that be a huge “f you, we don’t respect you guys at all” type of thing if you chose to play a team in LN instead of the “bigger stadium”? Lol.
But seriously though all in all; if that article I read was accurate and true; then I can understand why TV would want to leave. Bc that would kind of imply that Tennessee still doesn’t value the baseball program as much as they are trying to make me believe… bc you know they would (in a New York minute) upgrade Neyland Stadium. And would never even entertain some “off site” type B.S… kind of a slap in the face showing that they value football over baseball despite baseball actually being successful.
