The new box is a victim of being built before the big push of new sec baseball stadiums. So while the new box had innovation at the time the new parks have taken those aspects and made better parks. The new box is falling behind in the sec. It needs a renovation starting with chair backs down the lines. That was part of the original plan.

that's one way to look at it, but you could just as easily say we have a much better foundation in place to build tgoat stadium. I look at it as our "phase 2" to goat status. It's not like Baum was built like it is overnight

Only thing the Box needs is a berm of some sorts. Allow a first come first serve cookout area in centerfield like other venues have. We, LSU, are known for our food and tailgates. Let's add to this allure with a berm.

The Box needs some improvements, but you must be joking if you think it needs to be replaced
I worded it poorly no one would think it needs to be replaced but it needs improvements

Damn. It seems like we just built this thing.

For starters, it just needs seat back chairs. The bleachers make it look poor. Just like changing out carpet in a home and putting in hardwood floors, it'll make the appearance that much better.
Everything else in Alex box is fine, but I wish they would do away with the color ads behind home plate and the outfield and just make them all one color. Looks weird on tv and in person.
On the other hand, Tiger Stadium needs improvements before any stadium at LSU gets any. TS is falling behind and the concourse is a colossal cluster frick. Bathrooms, concessions, etc. that beer garden idea is dumb. Waste of money and 25,000 people will be trying to get beer there to make the waiting time forever.

Sure, but don't pretend you're willing to pay that for stadium improvements.
Posted on 6/4/17 at 2:51 pm to LSURussian
As a season ticket holder, id be willing to pay for my own seat back chairs. Those bleachers rub my nuts and arse raw by the 7th inning.

Are we not allowed to have an open discussion on how the box needs to be improved unless we're fat cat donors?

I never said I was but how are other SEC baseball teams that's not LSU improving things but LSU doesn't. They are the best program in the nation.

To the misinformed, it is not as simple as just doing this or that. By rule of Titke IX, whatever is done for the baseball program as far as facilities, similar things would have to be done to Tiger Park for the Softball Program.
Some of you may say that Title IX is BS, but it is federal law and cases about facilities have been drvuddd as such. You can ask Skip Bertman as he has addressed our Coaches Committe meetings and spelled out the details of what they are up against. Money generated by the baseball program goes into an Athletic General Fund. One can not make a specific contribution to a particular program.
The Coaches Committe for baseball as is the Gridiron Club for football and the Tip off Club for basketball specific fund raising arms that is approved by rule. Right now our aim is to raise money to build a specific weight room that would extend the batting cages Right Field where there would be more specific and organized weight training sessions as a team where it does not have to be shared with other programs.
I invite to join thx Coaches Committe if you want to be part of the solution. We will have meetings again starting in September. There are a lot of benefits to membership as well as access that you get. Chris Guillot is the president and does a great job as well as people like Janice Guitreau and Coach Bertman.

Yeah, everyone is building new stadiums. We were among the first to do so, remember?
I do agree that more can be done to the new Box (it's still the NEW one to me), and the surrounding areas. The area around it lacks the ambiance and tailgating fun that the older one had, as much due to location as anything. Tailgating in the shadow of the trees on South Stadium, just like during football season, that isn't as fun now, because the new stadium is so far away compared to the old one. But building another (unless you want to put it where the old one was) would be crazy.
