unless he develops a new pitch in the offseason.
if anyone has the work ethic to develop a third pitch, it's Lange, and I think he has the ability to do so as well. If he can add a changeup into the mix and work on his consistency, he could definitely move into the top 15-20. frick, why am I doing this to myself when I know this is going to be moot in about an hour and a half.

Shoot, another thread said 2pm. Thanks!
I'd have to take the 1.9 myself

His second contract would be substantially more, correct? (Assuming he made it up). Wouldn't it be smart to leave now to be 1 year closer to that second contract?

Yep, there's a lot more for him to lose than gain by coming back for his senior year.
Not to mention...the players that came back last season came back to "win a championship." Lange wouldn't be returning to a team that is likely to make a run at a CWS title.

This isn't the NFL. He would have to move up the ranks before he gets the serious money. Minor league players make peanuts. They have to make it big in order to get the $$$$. It might be his second contract, it might be his 5th, it might be never.

Yeah this is just for his signing bonus. He'll be making $1200 a month in A ball with everyone else

yyyyyyup
Goal 1: Make it to the bigs
Goal 2: Stay in the bigs

No, the number that applies is the signing bonus. It's not what they'll be making on a yearly basis.

No he didn't he signed for 150k, his slot was like 350k. Chump change compared what Lange would get.

These are all bad examples they all made money coming back except Poche.

You think they didn't try to work the change up into his pitches this season? They tried and he wasn't highly successful with it. In college it becomes a mix of:
- do you keep throwing the change up in games until you get comfortable with it and get it right.
- do you stick to what you do best and give your team the best chance to win.
In college they are going to go with the second option. In the minors he is going to keep throwing the change up until he gets it figured out so that he can work his way up.

None of those people were first round picks dude. We are talking a difference of over a million dollars. You can't compare Poche or Freeman returning to Lange returning.

Why is it baseball players can get drafted, negotiate a contract without and agent and then decide whether to come back but it can't be done in basketball

Was it Gausman's signing that wasn't announced until 2 or 3 hours after the deadline? Everyone thought we had him.

Probably because basketball is only 2 rounds and teams don't want to risk wasting a pick. There are 4230934090 rounds in MLB draft.
