He was a supplemental pick this year,
No he wasn't

he'd have to pitch balls out next season to be a mid-to-high 1st round pick... especially when teams know they can sign him for cheap due to his lack of leverage if he's not picked with the first 15-20 picks.
No he won't. Cole Freeman signed for almost full slot in the 4th freaking round or wherever he got drafted.

I figured it would be a fair assumption that he would improve his game with one more year of work. Do you think he would regress?

No way of knowing, from an injury standpoint, but in terms of improving draft stock, I think he has pretty much maxed out where he is going to be picked unless he develops a new pitch in the offseason.

Actually they just updated Cole Freeman's and he signed for 150,000, not the 340,000 that MLB initially reported
"The draft tracker did not have the appropriate signing bonus for Cole Freeman. His actual deal was for $150,000."

He was the 30th pick overall, but the 3rd pick in the first supplement round

False, the slot for his pick was $390,000, he signed for less than half of that.

Deichmann, Freeman, Robertson, and Poche all did.
Not saying he should come back, but is it not a fair assumption that he would also improve his game with one more year of work, which would in turn improve his draft stock?

He would also be a year older and have more innings on his arm, not to mention relinquishing what leverage he does have now by being an underclassmen.

They weren't first round picks the year before. All of them were picked in double-digit rounds, which meant there was a lot of room to improve...
And, outside of Deichmann who still had leverage, even though they moved up round wise, they still didn't sign for that much.

Its not a supplemental round. It's a compensatory round. 30 teams. 30th pick. FIRST ROUND.
Sorry MLB got it wrong. Some kids in the 2nd round got almost full slot and he was a senior.

How's that leverage working out

It's the same thing.

You have a link for that? Even then, I can't believe you're arguing this. It's a well known fact that seniors get low-balled in the MLB draft.
Literally every LSU senior that was drafted and signed this year got significantly less than the slot.

He was reportedly still offered between 1.7m & 1.9m, which will be more than what he'd be offered if he is picked in the same spot next year.

Fair assumption to improve, but when you are drafted in first round there's only so much higher you can go. Poche was drafted in the 14th round, I believe. The other three are all hitters that don't face the same injury risks pitchers do.

No one ever said it was a guarantee. Maybe you're pessimistic, but I'd assume one would improve with another year of work.
