The truth is, if we would take off our purple & gold glasses, we would see that is not necessarily the case.
I don't think anyone is saying that ads looks better than no ads, but me and a lot of other posters in this thread simply aren't bothered by such a minor detail.

Take a look at what the most historic and profitable team in MLB history does with their brand new stadium.

I do agree that out backstop looks like shite, but I rather what we have in the outfield over a plain wall.

When I played little league. All the ballparks had signage on the fence I don't see what the big deal is about this.
I thought it was funny that aTm fans were making comments about the signs last week. If I'm not mistaken I think aTm named the ballpark after a ice cream company.
I like that they haven't sold the naming rights to Alex Box, and hope they never do

It doesn't bother me terribly, but I still think LSU could do better than plaster everything with tacky ads.

Here's a possible solution which preserves the revenue for LSU. Remove the ads from the fences. In its place, display the same type of ad on the video board (no sound or moving video). Rotate the ads every 10 seconds (similar to a roadside video billboard or ad before a movie)
LSU could display 6 or more during every half inning. Every sponsor would get their info in front of the fans without the permanent clutter.

they allow the team to travel first class, travel coaches, charter air
we are not rushing to catch commercial flights, etc - first class hotels, food
think about the recruits those signs help us get
although the biggest factor in LSU baseball's success is the sweet spot of the BR market (and Lafayette right there and NOLA on the other side)... not too big, but big enough to matter. the population helps sustain the program in a way that other SEC markets don't by being too small. think about why dudy noble isn't filled every night like the box is.
think about the ads and the underrated reach of Tiger baseball. Tony Chacere's has gotten a LOT of bang for their buck even nationwide (bc of ESPN games and highlights)

i think they add a little bit of a nostalgic look. I don't mind them at all.

You realize how much less money LSU would make from those companies?
No way in hell a company would agree to paying the amount they are currently paying for a permanent ad and have it relegated to a rotated ad.

They don't show the video board nearly enough to justify charging someone the same price as a permanent add on the fence that is guaranteed to get shown multiple times per game. The adds on the stadium are not for the people that buy tickets. 7-10K eyes aren't shite. It's for the hundreds of thousands that are watching at home.

This was the first thing I thought of when I read your response.
"Oh yeah? Well I'll build my own baseball stadium! With blackjack and hookers!"

So do I. There was a time when virtually all the major league parks had advertisements on the outfield walls. I like that sort of vintage look as opposed to the sterility of lots of ballparks today.

If the ads aren't for those in attendance, then remove them.
In its place, show their ads as commercials on SECN+ during the dead time there, or in lieu of the rotating ESPN ones.

You have no idea how the SECN+ works, do you?

You are correct. To hell with the down votes. It takes away from the game experience and very distracting. Greed is today. Price the tickets. Then I make the determination if I want to go. Go ahead a take a bite out of my arse it is large enough.

The skyline on the Mets' grass field makes me a little dizzy, but I love all the rest of those parks.

You may want to get a prescription for some ADD meds if you are honestly distracted by the ads.
