will get many DVs for this post but: any plans of extending protective nets at the box. ive seen some hard fouls into seats this season. seems like the box has little netting vs other parks, especially MLB parks... I'm hoping for 1 informed response but let the DVs begin!

I don't know if there are plans for them, but I was surprised that they weren't added this past offseason with so many Major and Minor League parks announcing that they were adding them for public safety.

Yes
The Box will be extending the nets, won't happen until offseason though
The problem is the way the overhang sits, it's not uniform but it will be going further past the dugouts

thanks for reply. i have really young kids and am not an MLB third baseman so have always been a little hesitant about sitting in the line of fire without more nets.

I personally don’t want the nets. I sit just behind 1st base and I like not having a net there.

With that being said I don’t have kids. There is absolutely no way I would sit there if I had kids with me.

I’m sure they’ll get added sooner rather than later and while I’m not thrilled about it I really can’t come up with a good reason not to extend them

Nets at the Alabama park looked like they went all the way to the fence. Surprised like you that the ones at Alex Box end quite short. But I do hate looking through them.

agree... a 2 and 1 count foul ball to the head against Lamar on a Tuesday night at the box with some s%!tty Aramark nachos in your mouth is NOT the way u want to go out.

With all the idiots looking at their devices and not paying attention to the game they are probably needed. However I would rather watch on TV than sit behind the net. The net drives me crazy. I just can't follow the ball very much at all when it's hit in the air especially to the Outfield.

Went and watched the LSU/Cal series and there were back to back foul balls above the home dugout that were absolutely nailing people. I would not sit there.

That's the main reason I sit club level when I go to Astros games at Minute Maid Park. You can see above the nets. Also, the clean bathroom and good food is nice too haha.

Where did you hear or see this?

ETA: I ask because I've heard the exact opposite: There's no plan to extend the netting.

And I hope you are correct.

Honestly I don’t want nets. We sit right above the dugout and can say I’ve never had a hard liner come close to me. I know it’s more for the people further up but I’m not a fan.

Just issue everyone a catcher's mask and chest protector at the gate.

Since you have more than one kid, just decide which one you like the least and hold that one up in front of you if any balls come your way. Maybe put some pads on him/her so no one gets upset.
