Just read the bama board, they're skeptical about this. They think they have about the same chance of wearing white helmets as JJ starting.

It was a joke. We used to wear them back in the day, but we wouldn't do that. Just to prove my point, here is what Saban said about the Blackout.
"Those kinds of things only means something if you let it. Like those old Notre Dame teams that wore green jerseys and that means you're not supposed to beat them. Or Joe Theismann talks to them Friday night, you're not supposed to win that game. If all that does mean something to you, I guess it's a problem. But they have good football players, that's what we're concerned about, not how they dress."
It was a joke.

I can remember the Tide wearing white head gear back in the 60's.We may have worn them a couple of times while R Perkins was coach in the 80's.
I also seem to remember one reason was to have a contrast with the home teams helment to make it easyer for the qb to see his receivers. That may or may not be true.

Alabama's uniforms are awful. Georgia Southern looks better than they do because blue and white is far superior to period red.

How can you think those are ugly. They would immediately jump to the top of the list of best helmets in college football.
