They will probably want someone with pedigree. I could see them hiring SELUs coach before Cannizaro.

Cannizaro has a much better résumé than Riser.

Riser might see Tulane as a lateral move. And Tulane may not want to miss an opportunity with Canni who could be gone elsewhere in a couple years. No secret he wants to run a program.

I'm not sure Cannizaro should be slumming it at Tulane. As a rising star, he should probably hold out for a good job. Is he not a candidate at Tejas?

Being an assistant at LSU for 2 years is obviously better than being the youngest HC in the country and leading a program to their most successful 4 year stretch ever.

Tulane isn't the job it was. Will Davis and Dean are both examples of coaches getting their first shot after assisting at LSU. While UNO and Lamar aren't on the level of Tulane, Tulane's admin is looking to make this move. What he has on those two is experience working in the Minors.

They are examples of non-paid assistants here getting low-level, middling jobs.

And helping those teams be successful. I didn't think Dean was ready. But he took a very experienced team and got them to buy in and they played hard for him. Will be interesting to see how he does next year with a bunch of young guys.

I don't know whether you are referring to Tulane or Alabama but I will agree with you regardless.

I am more upset that Pierce is going to Alabama. Hell of a coach who could turn them into a power.

Pierce to bama & Riser to the weenies would be perfect, as those moves would keep both A.D. & A.C. at LSU. Does Pierce have any ties to bama? Texas?

Just remember that Dave Serrano couldn't save Tennessee and Sunny Galloway couldn't resurrect Auburn.

He is from Texas. Kendall Rogers is saying he will not move on Bama until he sees what Texas does first.

You might not like him, but Sunny has a pretty good resume himself.

I don't dislike him because I don't know him.

But I knew he was not really that good of a coach. Totally expected him to fail at Auburn or in the SEC in general.

I can't blame him.

Texas has been a baseball national power for years until recently, UT sports has all the money in the world that's not buried under the Vatican and in Alabama he'd have to be around gumps every day.

Pierce was a very good HS coach, played at Houston, coached a year at Houston after coaching HS, went to Rice as an assistant and they won natty in his first year, took over at Sam Houston and led them to best stretch ever.

He's a winner.
