No but it’s pretty much the industry standard - stripping the sheets , and probably because of that reason.

Everyone forgets that a rental can be used for cooking and saving money. Hotels can’t provide that.
Ummm...

And nobody is saying you can't have a cleaning fee The whole point is having absurdly high cleaning fees while also requiring your guests to do the work that is and should be covered by the cleaning fee. That's the point.
The posted cleaning fees were Airbnb and VRBO’s idea, the idea was they could advertise a smaller nightly rate and did for many years. Now it’s mostly the total. I would say that most hosts didn’t agree with that, it was not really an option until more recently.
The issue with a nightly rate, is some people stay 2 nights some stay 20. My cost to clean and prepare for the next guest is the same. There’s options if you want to get fancy but why? If that’s the cost to do it why make it more complicated?
I think we are agreeing here, but again that was always an Airbnb decision.
I can say that I rarely see an absurd cleaning fee. The cost of housekeeping and really many don’t realize how expensive laundry is these days to do properly. I understand this frustrates people, but it is what it is.

Airbnb is only worth it if you have a big group or you’re staying in a small town and your hotel options are shite

Florida Panhandle
Of all the times and places I’ve been in an Airbnb, the panhandle was the best. Stayed in a fantastically nice house 1 block off the Gulf for a whole damn week for WAY less than a hotel.

Ive never done ABB. Just feels weird renting someone’s personal property. Id much rather have a hotel room.

Yeah, pretty sure that is what I said.

Cheaper and they had you do the stuff a maid would do.

It will create rhe need for more cleaning crews. You have a 5 hour window to turn them over. Waiting for washing machines and dishes is time consuming. Some of the other ceap can get out of hand

We've stayed in a few. Cleaning fees were not outrageous, and all they asked us to do was start a load of towels and turn the dishwasher on. Never the bedding. I get it, towels take longer to dry than sheets normally, and if they're already done washing by the time the cleaning crew arrives they can flip them to the dryer and throw all the sheets in.
The one we stayed in this spring, when I went to turn the dishes on, I realized the rubber gasket on the door was halfway off. I texted a pic to the host, told them I didn't want to run it because there would be water leaking all over the place, and they thanked me for notifying them and offered a discount.
The only issue I had with the cleaning crews have been them showing up early. If I have a noon checkout, don't pull up in the driveway at 11:30 and watch me loading my car. I know it is petty, but I paid to be there until 12 and it felt like being rushed out. So I finished loading the car, shut the garage door back, and we went back inside and hung out for another 20 minutes and pulled out at exactly 12.

You forgot to mention the full blown, FREE breakfast at the Hampton Inn. This has been our go to for travel ball the last few yrs.
