Lol. Prohm isn't going anywhere. He's about to win another Big 12 tourney title.
Now he does have some rebuilding to do losing Monte this year but I don't see LSU offering enough to lure him away.
Plus his kids are really settling into Ames from what I hear.

LSU and its fan base is a hard sell ,Coaches would like to have help from the fan base they wont get it here after the first year !

Is Buzz Williams seriously a possibility? I would be down for that. Otherwise Prohn seems solid based purely on resume.

This....the new coach is going to have to start from scratch and re-build the culture IMHO. No easy sell. There are, IMHO very few influential true basketball fans left with the means and want to legitimately help the program and many of them were holdovers from Dale who gambled and lost on CJJ.
The new coach will I think need to be a dynamic and energetic leader to get the new interest and participation from folks of influence in a near dormant fan base to turn this thing in the right direction.

better judgement
Alleva hired a guy from the west coast who failed. He hired another coach from the west coast who has been mediocre to bad. He hired a guy from Texas who failed. He hired a DL coach from the LSU staff to be head football coach who failed so bad at Old Miss ten years ago that he couldn't even get a DC job.
When can we expect the better judgement to start?

I do t think Brey, Miller, or Prohm are realistic candidates at all. They leverage for a raise at best.
And damn, Va. Tech is paying Buzz $2.7?? frick

He projected the likelihood of basketball programs not connected to football programs flourishing over the next 10 years in this ever-changing climate of college athletics. He studied how many programs succeed at a high level without some sort of ESPN contract.
I've read about this before with Buzz. He saw what happened to the Big East when he was at Marquette and knows football is king.
He embraces the idea that a major football program can help the profile of the basketball program. I think LSU would intrigue him, but his salary might scare Alleva away.

We'll bring 13,000 to a GYMNASTICS meet, and you think our fans won't show up for a good product?

Will Wade. Let's go early career and think long term. This is what corporations do - make decisions like a for profit business and not like an institution i.e. The Democratic Party...worthless shits!

The last two VCU coaches don't have a very good track record after leaving. I'm passing on Wade and I'm all in for
Prohm
Drew
Musselman

A good point, but at least Wade can say he's doing what he's doing in the A-10 instead of the Colonial (unlike Capel and Grant).

I don't hate Wade but I'm setting my sights a little higher because I'm a glutton for punishment. I should know we aren't getting Drew, Prohm, or Miller but I can hope

Unfortunately, it seems the best candidates identified by the media are the obvious leverage plays (Prohm, Drew, Brey, etc.). We'll probably just have to get lucky with a mid-major guy.
Posted on 3/12/17 at 3:43 pm to therick711
At worst Musselman please!

I'm just glad Brendan Suhr isn't "one of us."
