They wouldn't pay up when they could have had Fisher or Herman as the football coach. Not saying these were the right moves but LSU backed off because of money they said as much. This was in our money making sport that drives everything. What makes you thing they will pay someone to coach a sport that fans don't care about at the moment?

This year wasn't Johnny's problem. Last year was with Simmons and blowing a 16 point second half lead to NCSU in the tournament

Why not all three? This team was never going to sniff the tournament, but two (2) conference wins? C'mon, we have the horses to do better than that. This was just a culmination of 3 years of gross underachieving with talented rosters.

They seem more certain on prohm than i would have thought.

Id take him or musselman in a heartbeat.

My top two as well. What should happen: offer 3 million to Prohm.

What will happen: Kermit Davis for 750k/year

We pay our head football coach 3.5 mil. We're not paying a basketball coach 3 mil. I wish we would. But we're not. As you seem to understand

I think this year was a continuation of the loss of control and accountability that has been building since year one so I disagree, I think this was very much a Johnny problem. Once that collapse at the end of last year happened there was no way Johnny had any credibility left with those kids.

ugly tiger your next coach will have a bad season who are you going to get then !

timm I've been watching LSU basketball for 44 years. I've seen lots of bad seasons.

This one was frustrated me more than any of those.

I handle them as they come and this one IMHO was the worst IMHO when considering talent vs. results, competitiveness, heart, fundamentals, etc., etc.

I went to two games this year. That's the least I've been to in that 44 years and it was because of the product and the utter lack of hope I felt. It was more profound than it has ever been

I like Johnny..everybody does...that's how he got the job. I wanted him to succeed. But energy...???

I take Alleva at his word on pay. No doubt, a bid for Buzz Wms would have to start at
$3 million. Recent extension maxes at $3.3 in year '22-23. At minimum you'd think LSU would intrigue him. Facilities are solid here, the BR/NO base for recruiting with his ties to Texas. The turn around here wouldn't take the 3 years it took at VA Tech. LSU's entire roster (minus 2 little used seniors) could be back. The ceiling at LSU is higher than
VA Tech.

No what I meant was he wasn't fired just bc of this year. If he had made the tournament and won a game or two each of the last couple years he'd still be coach even with this year

In that case, I think you may be right. But I don't think this year is as bad without the other two though. I just think what happened last year rendered CJJ impotent, and was a culmination of systemic failure that made this year inevitable.

Fisher- used us for leverage

Herman- knew he was going to Texas years ago

why does this myth exist?

Drew makes 3 mil. And was named Basketball Times National coach of the year, he'll probably get a bump from that. Will take close to 4 mil to go to a lesser bb conference.

I think energy is definitely needed in recruiting, but I can't help think watching Johnny on the sidelines his teams too often seemed to mimic his stoic and bland demeanor with similar play on the court.

I do think energy is contagious in every part of the program. Now it has to be productive. As John Wooden used to say, don't confuse activity with achievement. But when your coach is enthusiastic and energetic and can also actually move the chess pieces, I can't help but think that a positive, and I think we may have that.
