Advice for a visiting Tiger

Clemson folks here thinking of visiting your Death Valley for what some pundits have claimed to be one of the best college football experiences in America. Our schools have some history, and I wonder if this below is true?
Clemson had the "Death Valley" nickname first. The moniker for Clemson's Memorial Stadium was coined in the late 1940s by Lonnie McMillian, the head coach of Presbyterian College, who frequently lost games there. LSU's Tiger Stadium adopted the nickname years later, in 1959, after defeating Clemson in the Sugar Bowl.
The 1958 Season: The LSU Tigers finished the 1958 regular season with a perfect 10-0 record and were named the national champions by both the AP Poll and Coaches Poll. The 1959 Sugar Bowl: As the reigning, undisputed national champions, they played in the Sugar Bowl on January 1, 1959, where they defeated Clemson 7-0 to cap off their undefeated season.
Very interesting indeed, I had no idea!
Anyway, I've been looking at a number of seat locations, perhaps someone here can help me. I do have the seat maps of course on the ticket sites with virtual view, but I am not clear on a couple of things.
1-Are some of the non-box or VIP seats actually under an overhang, so you might be sheltered from rain or the sun? It looks like this might be the case.
2-I have wondered if the VIP seats I am looking at are maybe too high up or perhaps it is better to be down near the field. Are all of these covered? It looks like they might be open air but covered.
3-Can you be too low to see the field well, for instance, in the first few row?
4-Are there any venues near the field or on the field that a visitor should see?
5-Are there any areas you would advise us to avoid that we might accidentally wander into?
6-Is the club food and VIP area actually worth it? The Texas club was great; I regret to say that our food is mediocre. But we don't really go for the food of course.
In short, it is getting late to secure good tickets. Prices range from the high $200s on some sites to over $2,000 for VIP seats, so I need to act quickly.
Funny story with an LSU connection: After Dabo gave Nick Sabin his largest loss ever in the 2018 Championship, I told my wife we needed an orange car so we could ride in the victory parade; we had a red car for the other two. Well, Joe Burrow and LSU happened, and that was that; but we still got the orange car and have driven our soccer coach in two NCAA Soccer Championship parades, proving things do work out.
So, I am not expecting a victory, just a good college football experience—perhaps the best one on the calendar this year. A victory would be icing on the cake and I think a huge surprise to both fan bases—LSU in particular. Your help and sportsmanship are appreciated. Go Tigers!
Best,

For a virtual view from the seats: LINK
There are seats that are under an overhang in some areas, first few rows by the field on the sidelines will have the view blocked by the players, you should wander around campus to see all of the sites including Mike the Tiger's habitat next to the stadium, don't wander down any street named for a President.
I was in Clemson for the game last year. Enjoy!

Not much overhangs left in the bowl. If you want to pony up for some suite tickets they will get you either indoors or in a covered section. South lower has some overhang but you trade visibility depending on the location. Night game so you should be fine with the sun. Also, it never rains in Tiger Stadium

See above.

Yes. Especially on the sidelines. End zones are a little better but I prefer to be able to see the entire field.

Suite food options are typically what you get in the rest of the stadium but are "free" with your ticket. West side options may be better than the south suites.
Overall, I would suggest getting tickets with the Clemson allotment if you can. Visibility is good and you will be with your fans when looking for a shoulder to cry on.
Honestly, anything in the lower bowl should be good unless you want to spend the money on suite tickets. Avoid the nosebleeds. Suite tickets trade a little of the closeness to the field for the food/bathrooms and some environment.

6:30 PM game and still Daylight Saving Time so there won't be much shade in the stadium if it's a sunny day. West side (closest to the river) will get shade first, but probably around the 3rd quarter. Weather is a toss up. Have fun!

This x 2. Don’t park there either. Just avoid at all costs.

Make sure to schedule some time to eat at the Chimes (like tbe Esso club at Clemson) just outside the west gate of campus. Also, rhe original Walkons is there. Definitely go visit Mike in his habitat and just enjoy campus. As for seats, I prefer lower bowl a little ways up so you can see the field. Tiger Stadium at night is special. I live in SC and was at Clemson last year. It is fun....but not like a night game in Baton Rouge.
You will also need to figure out a plan for parking or ride share. Getting in is easy...getting out...not so much.
People will yell "Tiger Bait" at you all day, but if you are a good sport people are friendly and will help you out the day of the game. Every fan base had assholes....general rule is you will get what you give (unless you are at USCe.we can all agree they have the worst fans on the planet. .haha)
ENJOY! And have fun! Jealous that I can't be there. Death Valley is going to be rocking that night!

quote:Definitely. Can't see anything in the first 5 or so rows. I'd be 20 rows up if i had my pick.
3-Can you be too low to see the field well, for instance, in the first few row?
quote:Tons. You can search around this board or just google "visiting for game tigerdroppings" and find them. Too many to put here.
4-Are there any venues near the field or on the field that a visitor should see?
quote:Don't venture too far down Highland road on the north side of the exterior of campus. Otherwise you'll be fine.
5-Are there any areas you would advise us to avoid that we might accidentally wander into?

quote:Meh I park at Mckinley middle every game and it's fine. Large enough crowds walking back, too. You're about 4 blocks from real danger, which is practically miles away in Louisiana terms.

quote:honestly if I was a clemson fan that has an interest in seeing tiger stadium and the atmosphere, you wont ever getting a better chance and you better jump on it. 1. When will Clemson play at LSU again? Probably never in your lifetime. 2. This is a good match and Lanes highly anticipated debut which will have an extra buzz to the atmosphere. No better chance than this year to see something special.

A bit of extra history.
In a play on the word, as well as LSU Tiger Stadium is loud, the nickname was originally Deaf Valley. That got changed by writers primarily, who couldn’t handle the political incorrectness.
In fact, there used to be a Shell Station 1 block from campus named Deaf Valley Shell.

Don't sit in lower bowl lower than Row 16.
Most areas don't have covered seating except some areas of lower South end zone. Some high up in lower bowl west and southwest get shade quicker.
Thought the game is at night so sun shouldn't be an issue.

I was at Clemson last year. We win the game on loudness bc we have incredible Piped in music, that’s so loud, you just sit there and watch and clap. We used to pride on ourself on how loud our fans are, but we know pride our selves on winning in piped in music. You will be impressed.
