If he truly wants to be a Tiger. Why the Drama ? Commit and get on with it. I hope he stays, but since he has dragged this out. He goes to TCU.

He's trying to create potential negotiating leverage for an NIL deal.
Fans may not like it, but that is the reality of major college sports today. Plus, many players like the attention of being recruited.

If minor and happens later than he knows what the SEC is building in basketball. He knows what kind of players he’ll be playing with and against. If he thinks HE’s the man(on basketball court)he will stay if he’s not sure he’ll go to TCU and play with a familiar coach and teammate. NIL money is probably same at both.
