It seems you follow baseball closely. Are you surprised by this team's deficiencies so far this season?
Thanks.

I’m not one of the ones you mentioned but yes, it is almost like they are regressing in all aspects of the game
My opinion is it’s mental & they have no clue how to fix

It is surprising but the players aren’t helping Johnson at all with the inconsistency of play. Pitchers and hitters. Just when you think a pitcher is putting it together, they have a bad outing. When it looks like a hitter is emerging to take a spot, they go cold at the plate. It is tough to watch that they can’t put it together. They need to find some type of consistencies to get this together.

Doesn’t help when the coach throws a different line up out there every game. Doesn’t really give ppl time to get in a groove

I genuinely feel bad for Johnson. Hes made a ton of changes and tried some creative things to put players in positions to make big plays and they just choke the opportunity away every single time. You can see the pain and frustration on his face.

I’m surprised at Milan. I thought he’d take over SS…now. Jazz cold as ice.

I just posted this in another thread:

quote:

LSU lost:

- 3 year starter, All-American 1B
- 3 year starter SS
- 5th year senior, utility man who was absolutely nails for the last 3 years
- 3 year starter, All-Everything, best position player LSU has ever had CF
- Saturday Starting P
- Friday, All-Everything, arguably best College pitcher ever, staring P

And that doesn’t even go into the bullpen. Yet people here really expected them to not miss a beat

Does he have a choice? The players that are in the lineup consistently are the only ones he can depend on. Nobody else is really showing they deserve consistent play. That’s the problem.

They just don't have it this season. Plain and simple.

I think there is a big gap between not missing a beat and what we have seen this year. I think most people were expecting something in the middle.

There were people who follow baseball closely hyping up our offending because we had a bunch of hits against VMI. Add in the fact that all offseason all we heard was that our pitching depth would be our strength.

I agree with this. Definitely something in the middle. Things need to get a little more consistent so they can make the turnaround in the season they need. Nothing has been easy for this team this year.

They’re 20-9 with 2 series losses on the road (1 against the current #1 team) and another series loss to the #8 team.

What, exactly, were you expecting?

ETA: Just keep in mind that I remember you’re the tard who argued for weeks that South Carolina was better than LSU last season.

Were you seriously expecting 3 series losses in a row? To say that was expected is not right at all. You expect a team to take at least 1 series out the first 3 no matter home or away and against who it is. Have to find a way to win. They haven’t because of the inconsistencies.

Not a single fricking person thought they would be as good as last year, dumbass.

However, not getting fricking run-ruled TWICE (while losing the series in both as well), getting swept by your biggest competitor not just in your division, but your conference, getting your arse beat by Stony Brook AND Southern isn’t too much to ask for.

This team is likely going to be 4-11 in league play, probably worse, after the next two series. Yet, it’s all good to you arse lickers. LSU should CERTAINLY never expect better from its baseball program.

frick off.

For starters I wasn’t expecting us to look like shite against Southern after just getting swept. There’s other things too. I wasn’t expecting to get run ruled in 2 straight weekends with our self proclaimed deep pitching staff. Btw, I generally agree with your stance, but you choose to be a dickhead. I’m on record saying I expect the team, specifically the offense, to struggle especially early in SEC play and I got downvoted to hell on this board because of it.

Hahaha I understood why they were ranked higher than us at that point in time, yes.

I am not surprised they regressed. I am surprised they regressed this much.

Sure. It would have nice had they gone on the road and won the state series.

Again though, it’s a lot of new faces, in their first SEC environment, on the road, at arguably the toughest place to play in the country.

I hate the lineup jockeying but he did it last year and it worked.

I feel like he should know his pitching staff by now & start to identify roles. I feel like you have a solid 10-11 guys. No one really knows when they are going to pitch I feel like:

Hitting is different. There aren’t a ton of options.

I understand that. You also played 3 series. A good team should find a way to win one of 3 series. Not saying I expected this team to be great but I was expecting a good team. They have not played that way as of now.
