LINK
This details everything you need to know about the legal aspects. Quit looking like fool positing what you think you know. Read it and you can learn why.
1. This activity is fraud against a university and a federal crime.
2. A coach participating in such activity, or just knowing about it is a federal crime if not reported to the university.
if you are only interested in what pertains to the NCAA read sections 23-29, you will learn that,
1. A "offer" of prohibited services is against the rules, money does not have to change hands.
2. Knowing about such activity and not informing the university and NCAA is against the rules.
3. NCAA requires all student athletes, coaches, and staff to annually submit a signed statement that they are eligible to play, and will operate within NCAA regulations

So, if I hear you correctly, adidas giving millions to the university and players is somehow a federal crime and the university a victim? Also, why would NCAA violations be federal matters. Does not compute.

This whole fiasco is way over reaching by the feds. I agree with the defense attorneys that NCAA rlues were broken not laws. These guys were promoting business interest.
That being said, NCAA basket ball is a cess pool. Not sure how it can ever be cleaned up. I’m not even sure the NCAA cares to clean it up.

It is explained in plain English in the federal indictment I posted, just read it and you will become one of maybe 5 people on this board that actually understands the issues. But just to be nice, here is a cliff note. The universities are offering scholarships to players who they believe to be eligible to play. Having accepted deals made possible by Dawkins, Gatto, Coaches etc, the players are no longer eligble to play, and are receiving scholarships through fraud.

How is the OP downvoted? we have some of the most embarrassingly stupidest, whiningist, “the whole whole world is against us,” love to play the victim fans in America. And the absolute hypocricy that these same folks are so in-self aware that they accuse other groups on other boards of thinking and behaving ECACTLY like are, would be hilarious if it weren’t so sad.
I love Will Wade. Still. Hope he survives and coaches at LSU another 20 years. But open your motherfricking eyes, children. It don’t look good cause it ain’t good. He got caught.

That's all fine and well, but this is for the people that want to discuss the issue. And if you are going to discuss it you might as well use actually facts, not what you think is or is not against the law and NCAA rules.

I agree with you. I love LSU sports more than anything, but our fan base would be going insane if this were another SEC school. As much as I’d like to believe it didn’t happen, I see things for what they are and this doesn’t look good for the program. But, I also think that if LSU goes down, then all of the other schools/coaches should folllow and get the same punishment as WW. I love my team, but it’s very hard to avoid the obvious.

Because the OP is trying to scare people and make it sound like if not for Alleva the FBI would own LSU, and we should be grateful for ALLeva's suck horrible leadership!! Kick rocks for this post!

According to Pete Thamel and his "sources" (who by the way also claimed Tyrann Mathieu was taking money for appearances at frats while on campus)... So my bad for taking his sources with a grain of salt.
The transcript reading in October was actually read into court record, this is just a leak of a supposed transcript, is it legit?
More than likely, but reacting to media is NEVER a good look for any university, period.
If this all gets read into the official records in April then great we have a huge problem, but right now, we're just pandering to some guys looking for clicks

There is no amount of facts that will change people's strongly held opinions.
