I’d love to believe that. Some of our recent decisions within the athletic department do make me scratch my head, though. Almost like we’re building our football staff to make sure we just don’t get any worse rather than get any better. But that’s just speculation. I have my doubts but I hope to goodness we can have a big year in 2018. I miss the big years.

If anything, it just makes me realize that for the time being, LSU is done in terms of expecting championships (both SEC and National).

So moving forward I will just enjoy the season for whatever it is, and also come to terms that our rivals are Florida, Ole Miss, Miss State, and A&M; and treat us like any other team that plays Bama.

4-5 loss seasons and mid-tier bowl games will also be the norm here on out, and when you go into a season with no expectations, you cannot be disappointed.

there's some realistic expectations. everyone at georgia thought they were on a rocketship to the moon. all it got them was a second place finish.

and i got news for you. we have two more national titles than those guys.

Are we getting better and trying to compete with Alabama with a shrimp boat captain and tight ends coach?

Sure looked like they are getting better on the field to me but maybe I should just trust your judgement and agenda.

You don’t put much stock into the “what have you done for me lately” mentality do you? Do you think that’s the wrong way of looking at things?

i just think that there are ebbs and flows and times that people can win it all. i don't think georgia is going to be in the playoffs next year.

i DO think LSU is going to be better next year. our talent will be older. our line will be better. we'll have a better QB at the helm, regardless of who is the OC.

alabama reloads every year. every other team rides talent and circumstance.

I get what you are saying and agree to a large extent. What Saban and Bama are doing warps people sense of what’s realistic.

What ticks me off is that we should be doing better. 2015 is a great example. You get beat down at Bama and your offense is inept. But there’s no reason to lose to Arkansas and Ole Miss. if you win those and finish 11-1 you’re at least in the discussion for the playoffs. Now I don’t think we get in over Mich St and OU but you get a big bowl at least and probably a top 5 finish if you win. Last year we lost 3 games where we had the ball on the play and should have won. That would be another 11-1 and in playoff discussion. Now I understand that would extremely frustrating but to me that’s where we should be. This year if I knew how weak the SEC would be I would said 10-2 at minimum

Miles might have won 10-11 games this year, they sure as hell wouldn't have lost to Troy and blown out by MSU.

That was Orgeron's offense.

And you my friend are the type fan that waits till the the record is a losing 5-7 and then start bitching but by then the program falls back by 3-5 years to recover.....

Next years schedule is serious enough to warrant great coaching now ... not in 2-3 years
