About all the Alabama handwringing...

is anyone else fricking over all this bellyaching about Alabama? Alabama is incredible. they are historically great. the best college football program in the country. nick saban won his 6th title overall, 5th at Alabama tying him with... Bear Bryant who fricking won at Alabama. By the time it's all said and done, Saban will go down as the greatest coach in history.
So why the hell are we getting bent out of shape every time they win? They won. We lost. We should be trying to get better. But once we are defeated? frick it. In the 90s, LSU had seasons like 4-7 and 2-9. We literally remain in one of the golden eras of tiger football. Competing for SEC titles and national tiles once every 5 years. Oh fricking well. We got a title out of him, and another with the program he built.
You know. at about the same rate as a team like... Oklahoma. Since 2000, Alabama has five titles. NO OTHER TEAM HAS MORE THAN TWO. Ohio State: 2. Florida: 2. LSU and USC: 2.
So stop it with this "OMG, WE'RE AN EMBARRASSMENT" bullshite. No one except you thinks this matters this much. Other teams would kill to have a national title in their lifetimes. the point is we're seeing historic dominance. let it go. Michael Jordan was an all time basketball player. Doesn't mean Charles Barkley and Ewing and Karl Malone were schlubs. And we go bowling every year.
Til then, we'll wait for the next instate kickass recruiting class (looks to be 2019) and then our talent will match up for another run at a crystal ball. LSU competes for national titles when the stars align for us recruiting the state of louisiana. Our 2003 title was off two of the top 10 players in the country (michael clayton and marcus spears) raised in our own back yard. 2007 was similar.
Blah blah blah, O should hire a good OC. But enough is fricking enough. Alabama is good and will be until Saban retires. Let's try and beat him one more time before he leaves. Maybe if all else fails, we can be the one that puts him into retirement like we did Bear.

maybe the players and coaches are trying to get better. they're out doing what they can which is recruiting and assembling staff. you're just sitting there being mad at what they're doing.

Assembling a staff? They’re promoting the TE coach to OC. Our offense under Les was stagnant so we hire one of the position coaches on that offense to call plays? The frick is wrong with you?

hahaha... i think you've just been on the rant too long. you're reading with an emphasis that assumes i'm as pissed off as everyone else, when i'm actually chilling, drinking coffee, and adding those inflection points to highlight

Face it. Alabama football is the perfect storm of dismay and disharmony for LSU fans. It is as if your wife dumped you the week you lost your job and injured your ball sack, and married a handsome billionaire who then started a company whose primary mission was to poke you in the chest and torment you.
It's totally up to you how much it bothers you. Sometimes your competition gets the best of you. And Alabama has so far surpassed us we aren't even in the discussion in any honest way. I look at it as a test of my own humility and gratitude as a 40+ year fan. I have trained myself to enjoy this here bitter kale smoothie in my greasy palms, while the douche canoe next to me gets fed expertly prepared steak and lobster by bikini models. Realistically- our fate as LSU fans is a tortured one, and I have chosen to get over it until which time it passes. It is out of my control, after all and I'm not going through life angry and bitter. Resentment is for losers.

this is so well reasoned and well thought. for a good while, i was burned about saban in alabama. when he first won, i was like "what the frick?"
but shouldn't it be abundantly clear at this point that this was totally the best move? that alabama is just simply on another tier from not only us, but every other program in the entire country?
so why get burnt up about it? there's just good. it won't last forever. every year it's like OH MY GOD THEY"RE STILL GOOD AND WE"RE GOING TO BE THE WORST.

I think people are frustrated because not so long ago we were with them step for step in competing for championships, and then the turning point was when they blasted us in the championship game. We’ve been declining since then, and they have not. That would make anyone bitter.
I’ve gone through the 5 stages of grief when it comes to this and have accepted all those things you said about how historically great they are, but the fact remains that to be the best you have to beat the best. I don’t know about you, but I’d like for LSU to be the best—which, again, they were in the not too distant past. And with each passing year it seems LSU is getting further and further away from that.
If you want to rest on your laurels, fine. But I’d rather us be more competitive than we are now.

i'm fine for all that within reason. but alabama's dynasty won't last forever. i guess my questions are:
1) don't people think we're trying our best to beat them?
2) if we're not, who's trying harder than us?

It would be different if we were the only team that couldn’t beat Bama. Go read the Georgia board. They’re exploding like our retards are... but for a different reason.
