It seems asinine to actually believe that anyone would be scared of a tiger in a cage.

There were players who walked through the tunnel who said his breath was horrible.

Always this thread during the offseason.
That practice is outdated and stressful to Mike. Why isn’t it enough we have a live tiger in a state-of-the-art facility?
Why do you, likely a grown arse man, need to see a tiger driven around a football stadium in that stupid trailer?

Opposing teams weren't scared, but it was a badass pre-game tradition for fans. Still not worth stressing a beautiful animal.
They should just put a recorded stream of real Mike in the cage and time a roar for just before our guys run onto the field

Is it really though?
Yes, absolutely. There’s nothing original or unique about a fricking firework show or a cannon firing.

It seems a whole lot like nostalgia more than any actual experience
Yeah, because fireworks are an awe inspiring experience.

90% of the people in the stadium can't even see the damn tiger .
That’s bullshite. I could see him from my vantage in our seats. And, newsflash, they have these things called video cameras that follow the trailer and broadcast Mike onto the video screens in the stadium.
fricking crazy, I know.

I don't care about the fireworks or the cannon either. I don't know why you keep referencing that.

They can do that now from his set-up across the street.

Because everyone that says it stresses him out refer to the cannon and fireworks as the reason why.

It’s called the Global Federation of Wildlife Sanctuaries. In order to get an accreditation, you cannot remove the animal for non-medical reasons. Being an accredited sanctuary will allow LSU to continue to get Tigers into the future.
Easy fix. Schedule Mike's yearly check up an hour after kickoff and say that you had to transport him in the trailer because of game traffic and he happened to get diverted around the field on his way through GameDay traffic.

You ever try to brush a tiger’s teeth?

Being pulled in a wagon around a stadium full of people is so stressful. I have a newfound appreciation of the horrors Egyptian pharaohs were subjected to being carried through the streets as Nubians watched aghast. Yes, I am familiar with the medical effects of stress, being Board-Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. No, I am not a feline psychiatrist, as some on this site are attempting to portray themselves. That said, I have enjoyed hearing Mike roar in Tiger Stadium, but would defer to the professionals, his current Veterinarians on what is best for Mike. Lastly, how psychologically insecure does one have to be to label someone you disagree with "a mouthbreather"? No need to answer, it's a rhetorical question.

He never roared
Yea he did. They would have the cheerleader tiger mascot approach the cage and he would definitely roar. Sorry you haven’t been a fan long enough to remember. For the record, I agree he needs to stay in his cage.

But apparently it would kill him with stress to get in a trailer and roll around the stadium 6-7 times a year
quote:
Hell, he was so stressed that most of the time he’d be laying down, not doing anything.
Interesting how you contradict yourself. If you want him to ride in the stadium so bad, do the damn research to show that it has no ill effect on the Tiger. If you don’t want to do that, then trust the experts.

of course Mike roared back in the day. Cheerleaders put a microphone up against the cage and banged the cage and he most definitely roared and it was magnificent. The did that in front of the student section though, not where the opposing teams came on the field.
If a horse and a buffalo can run out on the field, then Mike theTiger should be able to come out in a cage.

You were so close. I lived in S.Stadium and they parked this trailer inside in the shadows, right across from the dorm entrance. The visiting team bus would pull up, get out and start slowly walking to the locker room. When a bunch of them got by the cage mike would growl loudly.
All you saw was elbows and assholes as m'effers were running over each other trying to get away.

You notice how these paid shills come here and make stuff up and provide no proof of anything and try to set the narrative that Mike will never return.
I’m telling you right now, Mike will be in the stadium this year. Don’t worry how I know. It’s happening so deal with it you puss y as s liberal PETA bitc hes.
I’m going to bump this thread when it happens.

I at least appreciate you giving a specific date as a one time thing, knowing full well it would never become a tradition again.
That said, it’ll never happen and that’s okay.

And I’ll bump it when it doesn’t. And the “muh peta” argument shows your ignorance. For the billionth time, it has nothing to do with peta.
The tradition was overrated anyway. The cage was tiny, you could never see him, and no opposing player has ever been scared to walk past Mike out of the tunnel. Would you be scared to walk past a tiger in the zoo?
