Can you recommend anywhere to whitewater raft. I'm not looking for Class V. Just something fun with nice scenery that's not too far away.

I'm going to be with an older crowd, so if that invite is open I would to like play some pong for a while. <----2@gmail.com Is there anything near the stadium that we should make sure to at least check out? I'm sadly only there for game and then going back to Pittsburgh prior to driving back to Ann Arbor

Carbola2 is your email? The only thing I would check out near the stadium is either the hall of traditions or the brand new alumni center.

The New River and the Gauley are world class rapids. They're down near Beckley. So wouldn't recommend them for a beginner. Actually don't think you can raft the Upper Gauley if you're not very experienced. A few people die a year on it. I'd recommend the Cheat River. It's right next to Morgantown

304, are they cool with open container while tailgating....walking around?

Also, is it possible(dont laugh) to find a decent tailgate spot if you get out early sat morning?

There will be zero open container problems on Saturday.

You should be able to get a good spot at the Coliseum on Saturday morning. My group will be headed to the Blue Lot sometime between 8:00-10:00am.

Open container is completely fine in tailgating spots. Whether its a private lot or WVU owned.

You'll be able to find a tailgating spot no problem in the morning. Depends on what you want to pay though. The Coliseum may also be filled up by that time. Not sure

Thanks kind sir, what a beautiful area of the country you live in. I have driven through WVA
years back and remember the mountainous terrain.
Your University is beautiful and stadium as well.

Can't wait for the game. This is great information you took the time to put together for our fans travelling to your beautiful state.

You would probably want to raft the Upper New River. Upper New is not very dangerous, I started rafting it when I was in elementary school. Lower New and Gauley are very extreme world class rafting trips, so you probably want to avoid them.

Also, you may even want to check into the New River around Hinton, and possibly do some bass fishing or just a scenic float.

Upper New Whitewater rafting is right on your way to Morgantown, if you are driving, in Fayetteville, just North of Beckley.

Hinton is about 45 minutes out of your way.

I provided the link below to help you out.

I assume LSU fans that are driving up would go the same way except for going straight north from Beckley to Charleston and then north to Morgantown.

You are adding about 30-45 minutes to your trip if you drive this way.

At North Beckley you are going to want to get on US19 towards Summersville. This will intersect with I-79 due North after about an hour. If you go to Charleston you are vearing West and then having to go back East after Charleston and will drive through that same intersection of US19 and I-79 after going out of your way.

Check out this map and you will see exactly what I mean:

Edit: Summersville is a speed trap. Dont go more than 5MPH (or not at all) over the speed limit when going through this town.

WVU guys - what is the better seat.....endzone section (98/99) or the upper deck (201-204). Seems like small enough stadium (no offense) that upper deck isn't that steep like it is at LSU? More view of the field there??

The upper deck is great. Like you said
You're close enough and you get a good view. I hate the endzOne seats in general. At lsu I had endzones and it's hard to see how much yardage a player gets on a run.

wvubrandon & other wvu guides: Thanks for all the helpful information! You are quite the hosts!

While you have posted a lot of info about parking, transportation, and tailgating, I still need a little help with the logistics of getting to and from. We are staying at the Comfort Inn near GraftonRd/I-68. We want to spend the day in Morgantown, then go over to the stadium closer to game time. What's the best way to transport: Park at Mountaineer Mall and take a shuttle into the city, then use PRT to get to campus? Will there be huge lines to use the PRT before and after game time? Or are we better off just parking in town, and take a shuttle to the game?

Thanks.

Thanks so much for all of this information. You guys from WV have been more than hospitable.

I heard there are several Vineyards in the area. Can you recommend any near Pittsburgh? My wife and I have been to Vineyards in several different states. I'm not expecting Napa, just hoping to add to the list. Thanks.
