Anyone doubting Red Lobster is either . . .
The problem with Red Lobster isnt necessarily the taste, its the portions.
After I have dropped $25-$30 on my meal, I leave the table feeling like I could have eaten another plate or two.

Someone stole your flag off your RV while you were parked on the bank of the Mon River???
Maybe it just fell off.

I assume LSU fans that are driving up would go the same way except for going straight north from Beckley to Charleston and then north to Morgantown.
You are adding about 30-45 minutes to your trip if you drive this way.
At North Beckley you are going to want to get on US19 towards Summersville. This will intersect with I-79 due North after about an hour. If you go to Charleston you are vearing West and then having to go back East after Charleston and will drive through that same intersection of US19 and I-79 after going out of your way.
Check out this map and you will see exactly what I mean:

Edit: Summersville is a speed trap. Dont go more than 5MPH (or not at all) over the speed limit when going through this town.

Can you recommend anywhere to whitewater raft. I'm not looking for Class V. Just something fun with nice scenery that's not too far away.
You would probably want to raft the Upper New River. Upper New is not very dangerous, I started rafting it when I was in elementary school. Lower New and Gauley are very extreme world class rafting trips, so you probably want to avoid them.
Also, you may even want to check into the New River around Hinton, and possibly do some bass fishing or just a scenic float.
Upper New Whitewater rafting is right on your way to Morgantown, if you are driving, in Fayetteville, just North of Beckley.
Hinton is about 45 minutes out of your way.
I provided the link below to help you out.

There's a Buffalo Wild Wings somewhere near your stadium, I'm told. Can you locate this sucker? Tnx.
It is on High Street, downtown. It is called BW3. Or at least it used to be. BW3 is part of the Buffalo Wild Wings family, and the wings are identical.
However, I would HIGHLY recommend you pass on BW3/Buffalo Wild wings and try some of the local places instead. You can get Buffalo Wild WIngs anywhere. Plus the local places, IMHO, are much better.
Keglers and Crocketts have the best wings in town and are local restaurants/bars. Keglers is right across from the stadium. Keglers has a nice sports bar and also a bowling alley (hence "keglers".
Crocketts is more of your traditional college bar. Its is located in Star City.
Both Keglers and Crocketts wings are excellent.
re: Curious: how many people here expect an LSU beat-down of Oregon?

First off, sincerely, all prayers to Kragthorpe and his family. As a WVU fan, he was an opponent for many years while at UL, but was always respected as a coach and a man.
Having said that, how much is promoting a guy who has been with LSU for a while to OC gonna solve last year's offensive woes?
I want LSU to stomp Oregon, but unfortunately, this doesnt bode well for LSU going into the season.
I hope all goes well for you against Oregon, but me worries about how much it is going to matter when WVU gets our W against you guys if you go on a no-offense downward slide.

I remember watching this live and laughing my arse off.
Funny to see a big DLineman running down the field and knocking a QB's mouthguard out.

My parents are both WVU grads from Point Marion, Pa. - My early years were spent in NY, RI and DC watching Major Harris, Renaldo Turnbull and JoPa copping out.
My oh, my. Point Marion is about a twenty minute drive north of Morgantown. If you are going to come up a day or so earlier, you really should make the drive.
There is a beer distributor in Point Marion called Korentus that has an excellent selection. Also, you will want to eat at Apple Annie's which is a great little family owned restaurant that serves great comfort food and has an unbelievable selection of homemaed pies.

the WVU stadium is a nice facility and overall is more modern than Tiger Stadium....the area around the stadium with the parking situation and only one bar within a mile of the place....welllllll, that leaves a lot to be desired....
I had honestly never looked at our bar situation that way. Bars are for after the game and before the hotel. WVU fans will be tailgating before the game, not hanging out in bars.
You will see a tailgate on par with what the SEC has to offer. You will hear alot about the Blue Lot, but that is just one of several different lots to tailgate at. IMHO, the Blue Lot hasnt been the same since they stopped allowing RVs there anyway.
If you are looking to hang out in bars before or after the game, you wont have to look very far, Motown has a great bar scene. Many good ones referenced early on in this thread. I have not read all the pages yet, but the one really good bar that I didnt see mentioned is Crockett's in Star City. Crockett's is walking distance from most Star City hotels, and there is a little obscure road that will allow you to walk from the Ramada and what used to be an Econo Lodge to it and avoid driving.
I hope everyone who comes up has a great time.

I'm considering going to Morgantown for the game next fall but I hear horror stories of the way you ppl treat opposing team fans. What say you?
Everyone warned me not to go to the LSU game last year, because of the same type of "horror stories" about you guys.
After spending two glorious days warming up in NOLA, I attended the game in my WVU garb, and was thoroughly punished with kindness, hospitality, and great football talk.
I even told my wife about 45 min before the game that I was upset that I hadnt been tiger baited yet, but soon got my wish.
I have been to probably 60-70 games at Mountaineer Field and can count the bad incidents I have witnessed on one hand. Thats honestly why I ignored the haters, I figured you guys got a bad rap just like us, and I was right.
Cmon up, and bring some of that great cookin with ya!!

WVU fan here.
an LSU fan just dropped by our board, so I thought I would mosey back over here . . .hadnt been here since before our game last year.
btw, I had a fantastic time in NOLA and BR last fall, it was (other than the loss) every bit as fun as I hoped.
You guys have an absolutely brutal schedule next year. Plus losing robo-corner doesnt help. How many games do you think you won just because of PP last year?
OOC against Oregon. OOC against us in Motown . . .the week after having to play MSU? wow.
I am sure you guys have seen that we brought in Dana Holgorsen as HCIW/OC. He was the OC at Okie State last year and has had top 5 offenses everywhere he has been over the last few years. OSU finished with the #3 total offense last year and that was the first year DH was at OSU. So you will see a much better and different offense.
You will see the same defense, which finished as the #2 defense last year. We did lose some players though, namely our NT Neild and DT BErry, S Sands, and CB HOgan, among others.
So people seem to think Zach Mettenberger will be your starter? thoughts?
As I said, if you guys go undefeated next year it will be beyond impressive given the always tough SEC and your OOC schedule.
Us on the other hand . . . should we be so fortunate to pull out a victory against you guys the sky is hte limit.

Reality strikes at TS. Geno manages the offense to perfection. WVU wins the turnover battle. LSU's putrid offense cant score when it has to drive the entire field like the rest of the ncaa.
LSU's D may be up to the task of playing with WVU's O, but LSU's O is completely stifled by WVU's D. Your d is prone to giving up yardage, but has saved your O by getting a silly amount of takeaways.
Without the turnovers, you cant get the job done.
WVU 24 - LSU 14

yes we do with lafayette, just like you said, they hit a jumpshot and its like...; dammit, you just reminded me of your basketball team's asswhipping of us in basketball, . i enjoyed watching that team after, but i hated losing to them. pitznogle was one of the scuziest looking white boys ever, is he in the nba? was it the coaches son who was also money? i think he played forward and could sink the 3's.
Pittsnogle is now a school teacher in WVAs eastern panhandle. Patrick Beilien, the coaches son, I believe, is now an assistant for his dad at Michigan. Pat played SG.

My best friend is a WVU grad, he said that the reason the mashall game was so close was that the head coach from marchall was an assistant head coach for WVU last year. He said marshall knew all the formations and about every play they were going to run before they ran it. Plus, he said they just traditionally have problems with marshall and that you can't ever judge their team based on that game. FWIW
There is a lot of truth to that, but I dont take much solace in that. Its not as if Doc left for Marshall two days before the game. He left 8 months ago. We should have been better prepared.
And Marshall does have a HUGE inferiority complex of all things WVU and they get up every time they play us in fball or baball. They have beaten us in basketball in years that they had single digit wins and we went to the elite 8.
I dont know if you guys have to deal with that with Lafeyette or Tulane, but its pretty annoying. They get a layup or a first down and you would think they hit a game 7 world series grand slam.

charlie, is there anyway to find a current depth chart, the one i am looking at was from the summer on rivals and is not current. what happened to Starks, the wr, he looks promising?
Starks is promising. . .to perpetually have some mild injury that keeps him from reaching his potential.

If you do not have a stud nose tackle, this defense is generally weak in any good NCAA league. Do y'all have that at NT?
Our DT Scooter Berry and NT Chris Neild are outstanding. Dline isnt the problem. DBs have played well overall, but for three big pass plays.
We have a great safety, Robert Sand, but he has played hurt all year. As I have stated before our CB Hogan may still be suspended for the LSU game, his replacement Miller gave up the two bombs against Maryland.

i formation will not work against us unless your oline is 300-330ish and your rb's are 220-235ish, which they are not. your game will be the short quick passes, run just enough to keep it honest with more qb runs and speed sweeps than up the gut and try to throw over the top of our safeties down the middle of the field for quick strikes every once in a while. i think it could work pretty well actually. i see ya'll being very successful until the field gets smaller in the red zone.
Actually Ryan Clarke is listed at 245, although I actually think he is more in the 225-230 range. He is our pounder and one my favorite players. He had 65 yards on 15 carries, the majority of which were on a nine minute game ending drive.
Noel Devine is a midget for sure, but he is absolutely electrifying. You guys may hold him in check on ten runs, and then boom he is gone for 65 yards, leaving broken ankles in his wake.
I dont see us going over the top. I dont think our oline can give Geno that much time against you guys.
