You are 100% correct. When he starts getting hit week in and week out in the NFL he will learn this ain't NCAA football and he will start sliding, or he won't make it through the season.

Is there any valid information that says bigger QBs are injured less often.
Wishcasting from a bunch that predicted he wouldn't last in SEC.

he does not know how to slide

Because he’s so slippery and quick he gets to the sideline or end zone before he needs to slide.

do we say that about 6’5 207 lb wrs?

Over a normal season, how many times is a WR going to be tackled by a DE, DT, or LB?

The NFL has gone above and beyond to protect QBs. His weight isn’t as important as it was 10+ years ago.

He slid a lot more last year than he did in ‘22, especially after he got popped and fumbled in the Ole Miss game. But he bounced right back up. He started for 5 years in college, and I’m not sure he ever missed a game due to injury. That’s not luck. His being slippery and only taking glancing blows is an innate talent/skill that you see with certain types of running backs. It’s just really hard to get a good hit on him. He can somehow make himself skinny and sneak out of traffic.

But he’s not stupid. He can avoid hits by recognizing where to go press so and getting rid of the ball before he’s hit. He took a huge jump in that last year, and I’m sure he knows he needs to continue to work on that. He’s not gonna try to run over Demario Davis or somebody like that in the box. He’ll slide or weasel his way out of bounds. NFL players are great, but they’re still gonna have a difficult time sticking him head on when he’s in the open field 1 on 1.

The play I think will be an adjustment is when he’s running down the sideline and some big LB or safety chases him down and knocks him out of bounds into the sidelines. But he’ll figure it out. And I’m sure Kingsbury is designing the offense around him so that he has a lot of quick, easy throws. Or bootlegs or zone reads where he can get out of bounds. They’ll play to his strengths. He’s not gonna be running power like Taysom Hill.

Of course it will be an adjustment. Just like it was from high school to the PAC 12 and from the PAC to the SEC. I think he’ll figure it out.

Remember when everyone said he was too tentative in the passing game
He doesn’t have 2 receivers in Nabers and Thomas who are head and shoulders above any DB they line up against in college. He may come around but I expect him to struggle in the NFL.

This picture without pads shows narrow torso on Daniels. Harder for him to add good weight.

People don't understand that weight doesn't always translate into strength. I've seen some super skinny dudes bench 315. It's the quality of the muscle that counts

Yes. Decisiveness and weight gain have a strong positive correlation.

He’s still going to get hit hard and often

He is a qb. Not a rb. If you think he’s easy to hit on the spectrum of nfl qb elusiveness then you should probably rethink it. He’s a very good passer. He doesn’t need to run to mask deficiencies in his passing. He will be fine.
