Maybe they're not performing well. Pettigrew was supposedly having the best offseason and spring and was expected to make the biggest impact at the position.

Maybe no on else has been able to give that same athletic ability.

Yeah because he knew pettigrew would get injured then

If one injury at a position results in the need for a position change then the depth wasn’t fine to begin with.

You're right. We should have 12 scholarship tight ends on the roster.

or maybe they started real practice & realized Moffitt isn't cut out to play TE, that they have a FR they hope to RS, and a SR That hasn't played up until this point for a reason

I believe E wants to run a lot of 12 personnel out of shotgun. Flexing the TE’s can be tough to defend especially if they are a solid receiving threat. Foster & Moss can block and catch but they probably would like to put Jacory and maybe Sullivan in some passing formations. They could cause problems and we have enough WR talent to do that.

We have these people on scholarship at TE:

Foster Moreau
Zach Sheffer
Aaron Moffitt
Jacory Washington
Thaddeus Moss

Why are we moving people?

There are bodies there but not a lot of production to go along with them.

Can’t address the comment, creates straw man.

that's a pretty dumb statement MOTTY

if you have a gluttony of WR, esp a group where we have some FR coming on, it makes sense to dip into it to add to a weaker position. This is roster shaping 101

How much of that became known this week?

Coach O will probably to what O think is best, because that's what he is getting paid to do

Sure, but that should have been known prior to this week and an injury to one player shouldn’t have revealed it. This isn’t the first time they’ve gotten a look at Washington, Moffitt, and Schaffer. That’s all the original post everyone is whining about is saying.

it's not all about that. They've gotten to see the WR's too, specifically the freshmen. That could have persuaded it just as much as the TE group

I’d say four in a typical year, you? Are you taking into account the comments from the staff about 12 personnel?

The problem at TE is having guys who are in-line blockers as well as good receivers.

Moreau is the only one imo. Washington has pretty good size but hasn’t done anything yet. Moss is down to 225. Scheffer is light too. Moffitt is 250-260 range but I don’t see him as a pass catcher.

E wants some 2 TE packages from what I’ve read. Moreau and Pettigrew woulda been nice.

Moving the WR’s doesn’t help the blocking much imo, but could create a mismatch in passing game.
