There is a Buddhist precept that states "Everything seems so important .. Until you get sick.. Then, you realize that the only thing that ever mattered was your health.. and that of your loved ones ."

May you both find the strength for the journey. Godspeed

You are absolutely right. Only one thing really matters our health and our loved ones well being.
Everything else is just noise.
Will be praying for you

multiple myeloma
Same here. Just diagnosed 4 four months ago at age 47. Hoping the treatment and bone marrow transplant go well so I can be around for my wife and kids as long as possible.
Sorry to hear about your wife Slippy. Hope she beats it and you all have lots more time together. It’s pretty amazing how quickly priorities change.

I'm 40. Had chemo since February, and finally go in for my transplant on Tuesday. If you have any boots on the ground questions feel free to ask.

That's what I have, and really rare for my age. Although there is no cure yet, it is slow growing and treatable.
I hope she's in good health otherwise
She had stem cell infusion last January. It has slowed the Kappa light chain and M-protein growth and reproduction. Taking maintenance chemo each month now. Her biggest issue now is the CIDP and the problems it causes. Plus, she knows she is not the same mentally as she was before the myeloma. It's difficult to watch her go down gradually like this. Hope and pray your recovery is fast and successful!

I understand more than you know. My wife is simply the most wonderful person I and everyone that knows her has ever met.
She exercised, ate right, no bad habits, etc. and was diagnosed with a terminal illness anyway. There is no cure. She has lost the ability to speak and eating is becoming difficult but she still hasn’t shown the slightest sign of feeling sorry for herself.
She still does what she can but at some point in the not too distant future will need full time care, which I will gladly provide.
We never saw this coming…
I hope your wife beats this and it’s a memory of tough times you both made it through.

Damn, Slippy… I’m truly sorry to read that.
Prayers for both of you, and if nothing else it sounds like both of you are a blessing to each other, love is a wonderful thing, especially when times are hard.

Did your wife have an injury before she got cancer? Trauma can cause cancer. There was a great study done by doctors in the early 1900s about trauma and cancer but was buried by the usual suspects

Prayers Slippy
Yes, my Mom was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and given five years. Those were tough years prior to her passing.
She lived alone, out of state and refused to allow hospice to come into her home.
Thank God my Aunt was retired and was able to spend time with her, otherwise I would have lost my job.
Everyone was under pressure.

I was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer late July. Turns your life upside down for sure and I believe it has been harder on my wife. Got the news Wednesday that the chemo is not working. Begin a clinical trial soon that will hopefully help. It has changed everything we do, had so many plans for the next few years. We will try to accomplish as many as we can in the time I have left.

Just wondering if any of you have been through this
We are going through it as well. My wife has cancer and we’ve got three kiddos under 6. Everything you said, I feel too brother. Keep your chin up. We will make it through.
