All-SEC, best perimeter defender in the country who completely erased multiple all-Americans, now over ten years in the NBA.

What exactly constitutes an elite college basketball player in your mind? Naismith candidates only?

Some of you dont realize how good he could be. He is a bit erratic, but he has the potential to be really good.

Having multiple elite skills, not just 1.

Lmfao you’re a delusional dipshit. Everything you accuse is projection, everything you claim is false. That thread you’re referencing, you were 100% wrong on every single argument you attempted jackass lol.

Sports are supposed to be about having fun.. not about being right. Let us fans be happy and praise a player without your incessant negativity about how they aren’t really that good.

“For everyone who didn’t see that thread, this dumbass was arguing that Gaines didn’t turn the ball over more than Pinson per possession until someone threw up % of time that Gaines plays the 2 and Pinson plays the one. “

^^^^^
100% lie, there was never any Gaines vs Pinson discussion because Pinson wasn’t playing tonight and I never once said Gaines turned it over less. Here’s the thread, find the posts that back your statements.

Tiger88 isn’t an LSU fan. People who celebrate when a player struggles or we lose aren’t LSU fans. They’re parasites who use this forum as some self aggrandizing tool to escape their insecurities. They’re not here to talk ball or bounce ideas off each other, they want you to tell them they’re right all the time and they throw fits if you don’t.

Gaines balled out. No player is perfect, the reverse layup combined with him being trapped late and making a great pass says it all. Let’s go tigers

He is nowhere close to elite. Elite guards don’t lose the ball 2-3x a game dribbling. He makes too many stupid TO’s. He played great down the stretch but he also had a couple possessions that killed us midway through 2nd half. His defense is elite.

He sure did. The big question most people I talked to had for tonight was “could Gaines handle the ball for an entire game without turning it over too much.” He answered those questions with flying colors. Remember we only had 4 turnovers at halftime then we started losing players because of the refs BS. By the time Reid fouled out we only have Gaines and to an extent Days who can even threaten to attack by putting the ball on the floor. So not only does he have to bring the ball up every time and extend energy playing defense like he does, there’s no Eason, there’s no Reid to get the ball to once the offense is set. Also remember that our usual rotation, Pinson + Gaines averages over 6 turnovers combined from the lead guard position. Gaines turned it over less than that all alone while carrying the extra responsibility with the foul outs.

Good info, and yea, Gaines did that shite, he was big time and good throughout. People will hate on him just like they do all of our players for whatever reason. How do you think we fair against Arkansas? I feel Eason has a bounce back game(mind you this isn’t based off of any in depth matchup knowledge). But of course we will need more than just him.

The big thing is we’re back home. I’ve watched em a lot and to me they looked gutted compared to last years roster. You’ve got to respect em of course and coach Muss but our A game beats theirs pretty comfortably. They’ve got Notae but we’ve done a great job handling guards this season plus our players have faced him before. The next 4 best players are between 5-7 and 6-6 so I don’t think they present some huge problems inside either. They have a 6-10 and the super tall guy Vanover but he’s a spot shooter. I think you’re right, Eason bounces back and I think now that O’Neals been baptized we’ll see Reid more motivated and relaxed knowing we’ve got a safety net and someone to push him in O’Neal.

I find he’s great playing keep away when we need to keep the lead with final seconds on the clock.

Thanks. Glad to know we should match up good inside, I remember Vanover, he’s weak down low. Sounds like a perfect game for Eason to eat. I was so glad to see O’Neal get some action, dude has potential and like you said it’s great to have another big to push/spell Reid.

Man yes it was so good to see him play and play well. The best thing about it is he fits right in with this type of team, he’s a defender first. He’s long he’s mobile and you know he’s hungry to contribute. He just gives us another defensive player guys don’t wanna go up against.

Because this board is full of tards. He's the best on ball guard defender at LSU since Temple.

That is simply untrue. His own teammate Murray is a better defender. Just look at Auburn and Kentucky. Gaines gets lost on defense at times because he overplays.

Mwani Wilkinson is also an elite defender as well. Every once in a while he'll get a stupid foul but everyone does. He'll also get himself into trouble on the offensive end at times but on defense he is ridiculously good. Gaines may have quicker hands than both Murray and Wilkinson, but they're all elite defenders. I'd say it's between Murray and Wilkinson for best defender on the team. Gaines is quicker, jumps a lot of passes, and has extremely fast hands. Because of that, he can pick someone's pocket or recover and block shots that he probably shouldn't. Either way it doesn't really matter who is the best. This LSU team has some elite defenders all the way around. Gaines, Wilkinson, Murray, and Eason are all excellent on defense. Then you see players like Shareef O'Neal come in and he should've had two blocks himself. It's awesome to watch. Gaines took over at the end of the game tonight and kept LSU in front when they needed it.

There’s no doubt that Murray is the better all around defender. He is the point for the defense. Coach Wade says this all the time. At the same time Gains absolutely does things on both offense and defense that Murray just can’t do which makes the TEAM aspect important.

Both actually do things the other can’t do, at least at this time. Gains is much much quicker than Murray and has a greater jumping distance, not hight but distance. Gains also has the ability to turn it up in short spurts where Murray is more consistent and controlled in his play. Both are great additions and we wouldn’t be what we are without them. Murray disrupts mostly in the half court and Gains disrupts the entire court. I love both their games.

If O’Neil starts improving in the upcoming games, look out, we will be very very dangerous. The refs absolutely stood in our way tonight and without them, this would have been a beating! Florida basically mailed it in at the end of the game because they knew they weren’t about to out hustle us and all that would happen is widening of the point spread. I really enjoy watching this team play! It’s a real team!

Been giving E his props since day 1. Lots were all over his dick earlier on. Seems they are getting on board. But, all it takes is 1 bad game and they will be back with the bs talk.
