Great shots, dude.
I think you are ready to graduate from the Nikon D40 to the Nikon D90 or D300 (stay away from the new D5000). You won't regret it.
18-200mm lens?
I wish I could travel to events like the CWS.

thanks man
I really want a D300
with a bigger lens
most of these shots were with my 55-200mm lens
I've never been paid to take pictures, although i've been asked many times.
I'm thinking i could save enough money for a nicer set-up

D300=$1,500
I'd love to have the Nikon 70-200 f/2.8, but its $1,900 price tag is a bit prohibitive. Sigma/Tamron make one for just under $1,000--they are good, but not like the Nikon.
If you go for a 70-300 lens, make sure you get the Nikon. The 3rd party versions are pure crap(I learned the hard way).
Consider the older Nikon 80-200 2.8 AF-D for half the price used (900-1000). Won't auto focus on the D40, but will on the D90 and higher.
I have the D90, and it suits me perfectly for now. I have a 18-55 2.8 Sigma as my "go-to" lens, plus a few others for variety. I had to stop buying gear for the year so I could save up for tailgating!
Good luck to you, and keep shooting!!!!

cool
did you glance at my other photo's on the photbucket account.
those are a few from other LSU sports that i've been to.
The crappy ones on the field at Tiger Stadium are with my cell phone
i can't take my big camera when i 'work' the games. but my wife got a nice pocket Nikon D18 CoolPix that i'll be able to use while standing under the goal post of the north endzone

These are awesome! Thanks for sharing them. I love the one of the whole field at twilight...a beautiful moment (surpassed only by the moment Coleman nailed that last pitch!).

Look at PM's reaction in the pic where Coleman is just about to throw his glove up. Priceless

Who's that one Tiger player in the dugout that doesn't look excited? Not sure if he even ran onto the field.
