I hate to make a thread like this, but it's driving me crazy.. Im finally pulling the trigger and asking everyone. before I'm told to google it ,I did, didn't help.

What's lolz mean?
What exactly is a show cause?
What does hold that tiger mean really, or where did the phrase come from?

Figured I'd get all of the questions my out of the way rite here, at once .

Surely y'all can relate to this. I'm guessing everybody sees something on this message board that they don't understand, but never asked about it.. Like the different abbreviations or other similar , "inside joke", type stuff.

Maybe this thread could be used for that for a little while.

Thanks in advance... Oh damn, that's what tia stands for, rite? I just about asked what tia meant too. Lol

Oh yeah, where does the white boots and coach o thing come from? Does it have anything to do with the Cajun guy on "swamp people" that wears white rubber boots? Think they call him trapper Joe.

The notes the band plays for pregame? the words, if sang, would be HOLD THAT TIGER

ETA: and CEO (Coach Ed Orgeron) always tweets it out when we get a commitment

Posting this was brave. I too once ventured into this type of post trying to figure out what Germans actually meant.

lolz is the same as lol which means laugh out laugh out loud. its more pointed at "lol this guy is an idiot".

Hold that tiger comes from the song Tiger Rag.

I do not have an accurate definition of show cause unfortunately.

You mean Delcambre reeboks baw? Definitely a cajun thing. I where my white rubber boots and cutoff jeans when it’s time to go to Pecan Island and catch some crabs.

I have no clue and have wondered the same thing. It makes no sense and I dont think anyone knows. I just know that it means we landed a big recruit when I see it and I get all excited.

I get what you mean. But you've got to be pretty old, because I'm in my 40s and even I know what lolz means. And I'm a tech/interwebs retard.

It’s something that the nerds who read reddit brought over to TD, IMO (in my opinion) it is mainly used as a sarcastic LOL

The internet dweebs think it’s hilarious though

I'm assuming the downvote is from someone that knows what hold that tiger means and where it comes from, so please tell us, lol.. I know when and where it's used, but it doesn't even make sense and wouldn't make sense to anybody that doesn't follow Lsu

White boots were worn by the shrimpers when I worked on a dock in Montegut in the mid-80's.

I know what almost all of the abbreviations mean , but every once in a while, I'll come across one that I can't figure out... When that happens, it drives me crazy.. I'm sure there are more that I forgot about that I don't know... Fify was one , but it came to me the other day
..oh yeah, why does everybody call our line coach meatball? His nickname or the rants nickname?

Show cause is the name of the NCAA penalty in which an individual is prohibited from employment by any NCAA member institution for the stated period.

For example, Bruce Pearl was given a 5 year show cause for cheating. He did not work in NCAA basketball during those 5 years. As soon as the show cause was up, Auburn hired him and shortly thereafter he took them to a Final 4.

Edit: If the term has any applicability outside of that, I’m not familiar with it.

Edit 2: Another poster said Pearl’s show cause was 3 years, not 5. Just FWIW.

Yes. But it was take from "Tiger Rag" I believe the original versio of "Pregame and Touchdown for LSU" was co-written by Huey P Long and Castro Carazo.
