His classmate and lesser player Aaron Murray had already been starting for 2 years at UGA so Mettenberger not even being given a chance coming off a D2 natty is typical Miles bullshite. Les Miles was a cancer that fans still haven’t recovered from. He showed a generation so much bad football they now as adults aren’t sure what good football looks like.

Funny thing is that he really wasn't like that his first 3 years. It really started in 08.

Agreed....when I watched the announcement to the team that they would play Alabama in the national championship game, there was no excitement at all. They were scared.

The average LSU fan has no clue how much talent this man squandered.

Yet under Miles prior to 2019 LSU had some of the best offenses in the history of the program......

People are so idiotic when it comes to Miles

The LSU team wasn't scared. They just weren't excited or motivated.

I don't think people give enough credit to how motivated Alabama was in the Championship game.

Bama was out for revenge. We had already beaten them and our team didn't get up for that game. Miles said so in an interview recently.

Our team won the 1st game. Watch the Championship game. Our guys weren't nearly as fired up as the 1st....

And Bama came out throwing the ball around.. with their foot on the gas pedal.

And yes, Les and Co should have had a much better game plan. We should have been on the attack that night.... but our team was flat. Flat.

Alabama was just better. It took several breaks to beat them the first time. That 11 tide defense was one of the best I’ve seen

They weren't better. A better team doesn't lose the first game 9-6 on their home turf. Les just had no game plan and certainly didn't have enough sense to go to plan B, oh yeah there was no plan B. Screw the gumps

Incorrect. Bama outgained LSU, had more first downs, and missed 4 field goals in the 9-6 game. Bama dominated the same SEC opponents even more than LSU did. Then Bama wholly embarrassed LSU in the biggest game of the season. That means they were better in every way that matters.

Was at that one; if only Blue stays in bounds on that end around. But the sweetest sound of silence when Alleman kick went through Maybe they were better but not on scoreboard that nite; of course 1/9 was another story

The worst part is at my young age, I knew enough that I still said we'd lose to bama because les will try exactly what he did the first time while Saban fixes his problem, the qb.

Dead on as a dumb teen.

LSU would have beaten Alabama with a decent game plan and serviceable quarterback.

Alabama was a better complete team than LSU in 2011.

The big upset was beating them on their home field 11/5.

That should be considered the most amazing regular season win in program history, but it was practically erased because of the sham Rematch where ESPN and the voters decided their opinions were more important than results (and that they hoped that a rematch would deliver them the playoff they’ve always wanted that has now utterly destroyed CFB as we knew it).

That LSU team was never going to beat that Alabama team twice in a season, and honestly it was shocking that the amazing defense gave a Jarrett Lee and Jordan Jefferson offense a chance to win even once.
This is probably the most objectively correct statement on 2011.

As well as we were playing, an Alabama win in the regular season was still expected by everyone not attached to the LSU program or fanbase. The first game went almost the same as the NC game, they moved the ball better than we did... but in the first game we were able to stop them at long FG ranges. In the second game, they were a) in the Superdome, and b) drove just a little better on us.
Game one, they were 2/5 on FGs, in the rematch they made 5 FGs (and a late TD).

Also with the first game, they prepped for Jarret Lee and completely eliminated him (and shut down the run). He was 3-7 with 2 int, and could have had more. We were completely dead in the water with him, we would never ever have moved against their defense.
LSU brought in Jefferson and swapped to a QB run offense that Bama wasn't ready for; it allowed us to move JUST A LITTLE, and that kept us in the game.

All the fantasies about doing something on offense in the NC game were just that, fantasies. Lee would have been a disaster. Jefferson was the only thing that worked the first time, but now Alabama had seen it, and they shut that down too. We simply didn't have any other answer. It sucks, I wish we did, but that's the simple truth.
