Gaines drives to goal and is fouled, The Ref see it differenly & calls a charging foul, "Oh Lord Have Mercy" & The General get a "T".

And Holy shite, from then on Hell rained down. The Pear says frick it, Release the Dawgs...

From then on Liberty hit the 2 technicals fouls shots, 4 regular fouls shots and a dunk on a busted defensive play in last 7 minutes..While the good guys score 27 points. Yes 27 points to close the game out. Damn 3 games in and we can close games like that we gonna be aight in bouncy ball this year.

Yep. I was at the game and that’s when the lights went out on Liberty. This team puts the hammer down and goes on runs unlike any previous Wade team.

Defense my friend. Smothering defense and transition basketball.

Have to agree. Defense was smothering the last 7 minutes.
That was fun to watch.

This was the first half I was able to watch live this year. Holy hell! I used to worry about our team wilting when facing adversity but these guys are stepping up. Nice change of pace since the football season ended a few weeks ago.

Beat me to it. Damn impressive.

I was gonna say "LSU won Wade's six minute game 22-8"

This team is closing like our sec title team. They were nails in the last 6 of the second half

Days has really taken his game to the next level. My favorite stat is he is averaging 1.3 fouls per game playing nearly 30 minutes a game. Smart would have killed it this year too….

Wade is a damn good basketball coach, and anybody who tries to deny it now is simply a fool.

In the first two games, even though we played really well, I noticed Reid was switching on every screen and I knew that would cause issues. In the first half it caused major issues, because they were just switching that little guy onto Reid and it was causing havoc. That was adjusted in the second half, and they tried to not switch Reid on screens. It paid off big time. I was more impressed with this team during this game than any other.

Yep. Wade largely shut their PG down in 2nd half. Good little player.

If LSU takes away those three 3’s that were busted all in less than a minute LSU completely dominates liberty in the second half.

Not to be that guy, but it was a pretty frustrating watch up to that point.

Giving up easy drives to the basket, kickouts for wide open 3s, offensive fouls (i counted 4 moving screens), and being out rebounded by a much smaller team.

That last 7 minutes was very impressive though.

That's what the Liberty type of team tries to do to you though. They had one kid on the court that was in the same world as LSU athletically, that's it. They took advantage of LSU switching screens, forced help and the result of that wide open 3s on the wings from the little white dudes that don't ever seem to miss.

The fact that LSU held firm, while also having a really bad night shooting early on, is the big thing for me.

This team is going to have some issues along the way. They are going to have nights where they can beat anybody, and then have nights where the Wade haters will be able to come out in full force. This season is a build up to next year for me, which should be an incredible season.

Maybe so but this has seemed to be an Achilles heel for years with Wade's teams-

Also.. speaking of-

After our game I caught the end of Belmont/Furman (great game).. Belmont is of the same mold and are coming in next week.

Arkansas guy calling the game said LSU defense would wear Liberty down

I think this is a big part of what Gaines is bringing right now. He's making the other team's best guard work extremely hard all game. McGhee wasn't nearly as effective late in the game.

Good shooters are the Achilles heel for every basketball team, not just Wades. There is no defense that can completely shut down a well run offense.
