I don't see KJ getting much over 9.850 with those leaps on beam. Kai's switch half is a built-in deduction. A lot of potential with Bryce, on the other hand.

Does anyone know if Alexis keeps training beam? She had a lot of hard skills in elite and performed them pretty consistently. She also showed decent beam at the meet the bruins last year.

We really needed Annie's and Dunne's skills/lines in that lineup.

Fairly accurate post. LSU stronger on vault and floor. Utah on bars and beam. I think landings hurt the most on bars. I think the entire bars lineup should be switched. I hate to say it but Dunne is needed in this lineup even with her dismount. In my opinion If they haven’t improve Alyona’s dismount she should go first. Aleah is world class. Can she dismount a full in instead for more consistent landing. This lineup I think will dictate how things turn out for this team. Try Alyona, Olivia, Alexis, Aleah, Kiya, Haleigh. That’s my lineup end of story. Beam they got KJ, and Bryce for the leaps. Vault needs another 10 start value. Directional issues cause the lower scoring. Floor was great . Again can’t believe saying this but Olivia or Chase can replace Alyona. The girls look prepared, now it’s up to the staff to help with improvements. That was my biggest concern last season. Jay does not believe in exhibitions and experiment with the lineups. Yes he has a staff but he’s the head coach. This is what I miss about DD. Talent is there, we just have to put it all together with the staff putting the athletes in the best position possible. Scoring is out of the athletes hand .

Oh my gosh!! I just saw the Utah gymnastics tweet. What the hell? Maybe they are mad that some of their former coaches came to coach at LSU. But they got back at us by hiring Maya. So we should be even. And also, it’s gymnastics, no need to be so savage.

I have lost some respect for them tonight.

They so busy posting half naked pictures and trying to gain Tik tok followers. These girls are more about getting attention than winning

I have very little knowledge of "gymnastics Twitter" but what little I do know is that it is a gruesome, toxic, bitchy place and that LSU seems to often be a target.

That is an incredibly accurate representation of gym Twitter. What they posted was absolutely classless, especially in a sport where the majority of these girls have been friends since they were kids and trained together and spend endless hours at camps together as well. Yes rivalries exist in gymnastics, like any other sport but I think it’s fair to say that NCAA gym from a sportsmanship perspective tends to be head and shoulders above any other sport. That tweet gives the NCAA gym community a bad name

I’m hoping they’ll lay off TikTok and focus on winning a championship. The talent is there!

That Ute Tweet was classless! I hope we get another shot at them this season on a mutual floor.

I know you’re getting some downvotes, but I have noticed a change from recent years.

Momma Maya needs to give them all a good spanking. I know she still bleeds purple and gold.

I’m all for removing Alyona from the vault and bars lineups, although that may be an unpopular opinion. Kind of like Jay leaving Sarah Edwards in all those years when she rarely stuck her vaults. I say stick Bryce in vault. Also, Elena has not proved to be a decent bar asset. I say insert Tori and Ashley and remove Elena and Alyona. As currently constructed, this team cannot contend for the title this year. I hope I get to eat these words, but it’s time to build for the future.

Her vault is fine, if anything its needed. It wasn't a terrible vault for a first meet of the year at all. All the 10.0 vaults minus Kiya had pretty significant hops but thats not unexpected first meet. LSU had landing issues all last night on every event minus floor. The scores didn't reflect it but its abundantly clear LSU's vault rotation was better than Utahs but they didn't the same type of scoring on this event.

They need to have five 10.0 vaults at a minimum this year. Quite frankly vault and floor may be their only saving grace to make up the deficits they have on bars because I just don't see the quality routines 1-6 that they need across the board, unless they get Dunne back or they develop Cowan quick. Its still early but bars has been regressing almost every year since Finnegan/Priessman graduated and thats 100% on Jay. Jeffrey is a big addition here and Aleah's has the potential to score very well if she hits

I agree with the bars regressing every year. It is hard to understand why we are always behind on bars when that has been Jay's heart and expertise. I hope with the next two talented classes coming in this will change. Also, I know we do have several good beamers but recruiting should dial in on girls that are beamers and strong bar workers. LSU has notoriety on vault and floor which I know we need but balance across the four apparatuses makes the difference in post season meets and championships.

Just rewatched the meet from last night. My biggest takeaway was that if there was a deduction to take (even so slightly), the judges took it. I think they were particularly taking 0.10 for every non-stuck landing on vault, bars, and beam. Also, I think the reason Bryce and KJ got hit so hard on beam because their connections seemed a bit slow (which left room for the judges to deduct). Looking back, I think (possibly) KJ’s vault, beam, and floor may have all been slightly underscored. I think the judges took for direction on vault, maybe slow connection + leaps on beam, and that OOB on floor. I think they literally took a tenth for each step in her final pass.

So all in all, I think maybe you could give possibly a tenth back to LSU in scoring (combining Kiya’s and Haleigh’s bars and Bryce’s and KJ’s beam, but that’s about it. Still think Utah was the more polished team at this point.
