How does that take away the fact that the dude won the Sec west. Idc about the stats. Stats are overrated. Only one stat actually matters. Winning games. The dude has won here. What’s hard to understand about that.

First of all show us the hate.
Secondly, what about 2023?

Funny you left out yards per completion or attempt. I'm guessing it didn't fit you narrative. He is what we needed at the beginning of last year (or a non-fat Brennan), but not what we need now. He is at his ceiling! Defenses have figured him out!!

First string QB will always be target of overly harsh criticism (unless a heisman winner). And 2nd or 3rd string the most beloved. JD seems to handle the heat better than some fans that post here.

It's unfortunate, but this isn't a JD5 issue. It's been said about 100s of players here.

There’s disagreement and there’s being a sore son of a bitch and low class. Big difference.
That can be said about any issue on this site-it's not unique to the present QB.

Problem is 2023 will be the same shite. Better o line, same rb production, same qb.

If JD was such a good QB he wouldn’t be coming back next yr. The fact of the matter is the NFL and Boutte unlike some LSU fans knows he can’t pass worth a flip either.

Yards per completion:

BY: 8.4
SB: 8.7
JD: 7.5

Yes...it is slightly worse (about a yard per attempt) but the reason I didn't include it is bc that's as much a factor pf play calling and games played as it is QB ability.

You know who has a better Yards per completion than all 3 of them. . .KJ Jefferson - 8.8. But he only has 204 completions. Is KJ Jefferson a better thrower of the football than Bryce Young or Stetson Bennett? I don't think so.

Conversely - you know you has a LOWER average than all 3? Will Rogers (only 6.6) - in Mike Leach's air raid offense (RIP). Why. . .bc he has 566 attempts!!!

There are 10 QBs in the SEC this year who have thrown at least 300 times. Their Average is 7.2. JD is 7.5. Is he at the top of the list? No. . . but he is better than average.

Next.

1. This was a team that a few months before the season had 39 scholarship players and a WR playing QB in a bowl game. It literally was put together with the transfer portal and duck tape

What does this prove?
quote:

2. Oline and running game were shite…especially early in the season. If there EVER was a season that we needed a dual threat QB….this was it.

Somewhat true. However I'd argue that pocket presence is more important than his 4 yard dash time when it comes to this. All 3 of our quarterbacks are mobile enough to navigate the pocket and run when needed.
quote:

3. The “JD5 can’t throw the ball” narrative is FALSE. Did he frustratingly hold on to the ball too long early in the season - yes. But the guy ended up with 2774 passing yds. Only 4 QBs in LSU history have thrown for over 3000 (Joey B, Rohan, Mett, and Jamarcus). Imagine what he could have done with more practice time (or prior season games) with the new WRs and Coaches. Plus…Had he not had several drops or sat out games and entire halves bc of either injury or leads, he very well could have been the 5th player to throw for 3K+. (Btw…JB9 threw for abt 2800 yds in his 1st season with way better WR talent and I don’t remember any “JB9 can’t throw” threads).

If you can't see the difference between Burrow and Daniels and their situations, then I don't know what to tell you. People need to stop making this comparison.
quote:

4. Related to #2…when Oline sucks, you need a QB who can move. JD5 delivered on that. 818 Rushing yds - highest of any SEC QB and his 3592 Total Offense yards is the 2nd highest single season total in LSU history. (#1 is Joey B in 2019 of course with a ridiculous 6039 yds ttl offense). But no other LSU QB has come close.

This is great. In order to win a national championship, you need a quarterback who can throw the ball down the field.
quote:

5. Comparing to 2 other Best SEC Bs in 2022. (Attempts, Completion%):
Bryce Young (359, 64.1%)
Stetson Bennett (395, 68.1%)
Jayden Daniels (371, 68.5%)
So JD5 threw the ball just as much as BY and SB AND had a better completion% than both. (Yes BY was injured but so was JD). Haven't heard anyone on here say BY or SB can't throw.

They were 3rd and 5th in yards per attempt.

I don't hate Jayden, but all of your points can be refuted.

Wow. So smart. How does one account for the number of times Daniels could have thrown to an open receiver but chose not to do so? Do that one.

LSU played in SEC Championship Game and beat Alabama, after the bottom had fallen out for 2 seasons, with the cupboard quite bare upon Coach BK's arrival.

If you are that serious about wasting your energy (JD5 hating), do this board a favor and go outside and piss in the wind.

He was what we needed in 2022 with a young Oline. I don’t think he’s what we need in 2023
