I thought the addition of our portal DEs would really help with the 4 man rush, but we had to continue to blitz to get any kind of pressure on Chambliss. Uman got a little pressure at times, but nothing consistent.

What was annoying to me is the man to man coverage playing 10 yards off giving them slants and hitches all game long

It’s hard when 4 is rushing on 5/6. Especially when you run a soft zone and WRs are quickly getting into open spots. The defensive plan was terrible.

Don’t blame the front 4 for Bakers dog shite play calling.

Running QBs make pass rushing way harder. Running qbs who are some of the best in the history of CFB in evasion and throwing on the run make it almost impossible. Qbs like chambliss don’t get sacked for a reason. We actually played the line well outside of Princewill getting too far upfield a couple of times considering all things.
Our demise was no offense production in the first half and playing soft zone in the first half. When we used safeties to close the space for those y choice routes things got much better. If we play them again we win by 10+ points.

Miami did it last year and got pressure all night. We need better players.

The freshman defensive tackles didn’t show up it’s really their fault.

There were a lot of chips and quick passes. You can’t get a rush with 4 when you’re playing off coverage. Ball comes out too quick.

I don’t see how we rush a QB that catches a snap and goes 1, 2, 3 bang and the ball was out of his hands. That QB for Ole Miss got rid of the ball fast. If that Ole Miss QB would have been on our side we would have won last night.

Someone above said something about Miami’s DL last night. Yes I remember those dudes were dawgs for the Canes. We don’t have those kind of DL right now.

Princewill was the only one of the 4 DL able to get any pressure without blitzing. It doesn’t help that they were holding a lot and it wasn’t being called

Ross did not impact the game, I’m sure he is disappointed as well.

Hope the team builds from this, moves on and can now focus only on football.

They have a lot of football in front of them and all their goals are still achievable.

Even harder when we kept rushing just 3.

This. Outside of the 3rd quarter, the defensive play calling was way too timid. Soft zone coverages or man-to-man, but 10 yard cushions. I even remember one play where Ross was lined up way outside in a CB's normal spot. I was dumbfounded when we went right back to 3 man rushes and soft coverages in the 4th quarter after stonewalling them in the 3rd.

Hard to get to the qb when your corners are playing 20 yards off

Same song and dance. I posted earlier in the year that we can’t get too excited, bc we’ve been excited in the past, and then let down.

Baker and Co have to prove that their D isn’t a false positive
