Sloppy, but hard fought game.Georgia turns the ball over with :01 under their basket.LSU is up,58-57,throw the ball in,games over.

But someone forgot to tell John Williams the inbound pass has to touch someone. Williams threw a baseball pass that went near Nicholson Dr.Georgia ball with still one second.

You guessed it.Georgia lofts an in bound pass to Cedric Henderson near the ft line.Catch and release, good.Georgia wins,59-58.

LSU was at 4-5 in SEC play but won their last nine league games to win the SEC.

Can you imagine what the Rant would have been like that night? lol

I could see our team doing something incredibly stupid like that. We did have 19 turnovers last game and a few completely unforced ones.

Memorable, but it doesn't top "Jose, whatever you do, don't shoot."

I was there. Second worst loss of an LSU basketball team where I was in the PMAC. Nothing can top giving up a 31 point second half lead to Kentucky

The chicken pox game/ Roger Hardin buzzer beater loss sucked pretty bad too.

dale's fault. Just throw the ball off the back of ANYONE and game over. Throw it off if the face of the guy guarding the inbounds pass. ANYTHING but what he did.

I think I was at this game. Roads were frozen. Also I believe it was Jerry "iceman" Reynolds not John Williams.

I was 9 so I could be wrong

No it was John Williams.
When Georgia inbounded the ball after the LSU screw up it was a short pass to the right that was tipped by an LSU player. GA player then got the ball and scored. Most thought clock should have expired b4 GA shot.
At least thats what I recall. I was 8.

No. Williams threw the inbounds the length of the floor. Georgia inbounded under their goal to Cedric Henderson who shot off the glass

I remember it well. John Williams was one of our 1st ever quality (NBA caliber) recruits from California. He was an excellent passer! That's what I remember most. Kind of ironic that he will be remembered for the worst pass ever in the history of basketball!

Kyle Macy jumper at the buzzer for Kentucky in OT in 1980 at PMAC was pretty bad. Winner-take-all last game for regular-season SEC title. I was there. It sucked.

LSU got revenge a week later by beating Kentucky in the SEC tourney final.

LSU split with UK in 1985.In 1986 Kentucky won the regular season games,SEC Tournament game before LSU won in NCAAs

The Florida tip-in vs Fla State doesn't hold candle to this. That was a freak play and this was pur incompetency.
