Gotta side with Lester on this one. Austin Powers’ nemesis is citing a vague “knowledge of X’s & O’s” — but if you ignore these self-legitimizing statements, the analysis pretty much amounts to “Brady good, E bad”.

We don’t know what actually goes on in the booth, but we do know Orgeron told the public that Ensminger gets the final word on playcalling (and that it has been that way since day 1).

I do believe the game plan was tailored to minimize pressure on Burrow, that they gashed them for several big runs because they were taking what the defense was giving, and the only sequence I really had an issue with was the same goal line sequence everyone has already critiqued ad nauseam.

How do you Fat Bastard lot theorize things work up there in the booth exactly? “Hey, you call the plays in the redzone this time. I’ll call the plays on all 2nd downs the rest of the game.” Wtf?

Seems like result-dependent analysis + needing an idol/scapegoat + conspiracy brain = this crap.

Should red zone offense be emphasized this week? Yes. Let’s leave it there.

To be fair, Auburn’s defense is really good. We’re minimizing that. Yes LSU bad execution problems in the red zone and some baffling playcalling. But don’t take away from that front seven.

Same. I’m ok if that pass is on 3rd down but I’d rather be throwing into the end zone on 4th. The coverage was not good for a bubble screen either. I wish Joe would have noticed and called TO or changed plays.

That whole sequence of shitty play calls had me thinking Les was back.

We got to to the 1 yard line I’m not sure that stop had anything to do with play calling as much as it did our OL getting their dicks pushed in the dirt

The play calling always changes

AU blanketed our WRs
The field was wet and slippery

Burrow had extremely tight windows yesterday, of course the play calling will be different.

With the exception of Richard Dickson, I don’t remember the last time we used to play action pass to a TE to score a touchdown.

We have changed our offense since Vandy. We run the same plays but we do not run tempo. We may get into hurry up but not tempo where two plays are called and as soon as you run the first one you line up and run the second as quick as possible.

I hate to say it because I love coach O but I think he told the offense to slow it down to protect his defense. Now there is no changing his mind that the defense has played so well but we do not beat Alabama playing like we have during the last three to four games. We slowed it down and kept the ball away from Utah State. We had moments where we played tempo against Florida in the second half and scored. We did not play tempo against State and the offense scored less than they should have. This game with aub should have been played like the Texas game where several plays were called in advance and ran as quickly as possible, all being RPO’s so joe can decide to either a run or pass after he sees what the defense is giving him.

This slow down the offense and play more conservative is hurting this team and will not give us a win at Alabama. If we try and play keep the ball out of Tau’s hands and slow the game, we lose. We lose. We must get on them and score as many points as possible and let the defense stop them or take the ball away. Warp speed or lose.

This is the first time in the past few years I think the bye will actually benefit LSU being before Bama. Feels like the offense has hit a little snag the past two games. Nothing major just not finishing as well. Now with everyone healthy and an extra week feels like it works out for them better. Compared to last few seasons where it felt LSU was building momentum just to have it stalled by the bye.

We should have passed earlier in the drive, and on 4th, passing in the actual endzone.

Those redzone stops came down to awful, un-creative, play calling. No other way around it.

And we're lucky they didn't. Just like the Texas game, we lucked out...

I agree. That’s a third down pass, not a fourth down pass. And I was thinking that exact play, so if I thought it so did Auburn.
The offense has to become more unpredictable on big plays.

If you know more than Coach O, why don’t you apply for his job hot shot?

They aren't slowing down to rest the defense, because it isn't happening as much not in the red zone. However, last night we did run ourselves into several 3rd and short situations.

The last two games in the red zone we have been afraid to throw into the end zone. Slipping back into conservative thinking will cost us the Alabama game if we don't stop it. It's going to be a shootout, and we'd better score at every opportunity.
