I'm no gymnastics expert but is 195.625 on the low side for a top 15 team?

I think today was definitely not their day and they are better than they seemed. Auburn really broke down on the beam towards the end. Hell you had two girls fall off one after the other. And their floor routines were definitely less than stellar.

Auburn’s RQS this week was a 196.19, so definitely not their best meet.

The commentator Kathy Johnson. She was a former gymnast herself and was an olympian for the united states in the 80's

Correct

It was exciting today to see 5 1 1/2s in the lineup on vault. Maybe with a couple more competitions of competing it, it could be a pretty good score for us. I felt bad for Edwards, she had a major mistake off the block on the table so she was under rotated and off to the side. DD has been full throttle these last few weeks with certain routines. We've seen some major pushes on floor with Priessman and Desiderio, and then today pushes it even more on vault

Pretty classless on Auburn's part to be walking off the floor as Myia is finishing her floor routine.
They didn't shake hands, nothing. Jackets on and bags packed and on their backs and almost out the arena even before Myia's 10 was announced.

Wow, what a meet.

Edney was absolutely insane tonight. She should 100% be the SEC Gymnast of the week.

Vault: We are still not where we need to be with sticking landings. We haven't stuck in a few weeks it feels like. However, we now have five vaults starting from a 10. DD and staff have to decide if the risk is worth it. If Julia can stick a full for a 9.875 then does she go for the 1.5 that can go 9.8 or maybe above 9.9? They have to devalue the full to a 9.9 to get things more in line.

Bars: Just keep on keepin on. Huge score even with Priessman not hitting to her potential. That being said, I worry about her. In an ideal world we have her on 2-3 events in post-season. If she is hurting then DD needs to pull her off of floor and focus on bars. We can get it done on floor without her but tonight was our perfect set, can we repeat that floor performance?

Beam: Desiderio seems to be coming around and it makes a HUGE difference. If we can count on her than we need Edney or Campbell to hit and it takes a ton of pressure off. Edney has been getting stronger and stronger as the season goes so I am feeling better. If we could re-work Campbell's routine it would be great but it's far too late at this point in the season.

Floor: It was a worry at the beginning of the season but if everyone does their job we can be right there for #1 on floor. I am not sure who is our better lead off, Kirby or Edwards but when the rest hit it doesn't matter. Edney has to prove that her double arabian today was not a fluke. She has NEVER landed it like that. I loved he reaction. Finnegan would have been a 10 anywhere in the country. Hambrick finally got her 10 but there were deductions there, but that set is a 9.950 at Nationals.

If we stick 2-3 vaults and do the rest as we have this season, multiple times, we can win a Natty. Vaults have to start being stuck.

It's not surprising when you realize who their head coach is. He's a piece of work

Still I was shocked to see that

Am I the only one who prefers Edwards to Kirby?

Edwards has pretty clean form and has an E pass with the front double full. She usually starts off in the high 9.8s. Honestly, Kirbys scores took off after LSU inserted Edwards into that lead off spot. Edwards sets the tone with a great lead off performance that it helps build the scores down the lineup. This is one big reason why lead offs are critical and have major impacts on the scores overall.

Priessman is my main concern now. We really need her on floor come post season for a national title. Looks like Edney had come into her own now and is one of the top floor workers in the country now. She's giving us 9.95s lately boosting our floor scores. If Desiderio can control her second pass more she should jump into the 9.9s on floor. Her double layout is flawless. The leaps and toe point are as good as one can do.

I think the question needs to be going into post season is if we want Kirby or Edwards at the lead off. I think Edwards comes with more risk just because she is a true freshman but also because she has more difficulty. At the same time you need to ask yourself what will judges give them come post season, scores will be much more strict

Should have been 3 10’s to close the floor IMO.
Edney was a beast today.
Ruby still looks pretty shaky on everything. She may lose her spot again on the bars.

She wasn't shaky on vault, it was an excellent vault, just didn't stick it. But the amplitude and distance was way better.

Bars was a pretty major mistake, but where her deductions usually come from is her pirouette and dismount. The dismount looks fantastic these last few weeks, its not a .10 hop anymore its either stuck or slight one foot movement. Kirby is not taking ruby's spot on bars unless she completely melts down the next 4 weeks.

Might have been that they were told the SEC network was going to cover the SEC title presentation right after the last event and there was no reason to stay out on the floor to watch LSU celebrate and then line up to to exchange pleasantries after the fact.

Wow, what an ending to that meet! Who would have thought that Finnegan’s first ten would be on floor.

We still have room to improve. We have to start sticking some vaults to contend in the end. We are still ranked 5th in the nation there. I’m not sure why these vaults are so far behind from last year. The only thing I can think of is the team just always knew Gnat would hit a huge score in the end, so the rest of lineup before her vaulted loose.

I can’t wait to see Reagan finally hit everything in her beam routine. The problem is there is just so much in there, and the 180 isn’t there in the switch, switch half. I’m just not sure she will break 9.9 in the post season with that leap series. Is it too late for LSU to just go ahead and take it out? I mean why risk it holding her score down?

I worry about Lexie because Lexie. We will certainly need her as well to break through.

I hope Christina can finish cleaning up the floor passes in the next few weeks. It’s improved greatly, but still just not there. That routine tonight would probably max out at 9.8 in the post season.

Tigerbait, I do prefer Edwards to lead off, but it looks like she’s not even the first alternate. Julianna has been on floor these last few meets when Edwards hasn’t. Has Edwards had some bad practices lately?
