Yet, LSU has the 3rd most SEC Championships in that time and by far the highest winning % in the SEC Championship Game for teams that have been multiple times. LSU has won 80% of the time. The next best team is Bama at 63%.

We’ve been to 20% of the SECCGs. Thats pretty damn good especially considering the program was a dumpster fire for most of the 90s.

Anyone who thinks LSU will start a freshman at qb in 2018 knows little about LSU football.

LSU didn't have a great coaching staff to play in championship games. Miles teams was stacked to play for the championship. He just couldn't get them there.

The numbers that say we've been to 3 national championship games in that same timeframe? And won 2? We sucked arse in the 90's. Everyone knows this. And Alabama has been on an obscenely dominant run under Saban for the past 10 years. You think Georgia or Auburn can claim to be more "elite" than LSU because of numbers? Tell me the last time Georgia's been to a national title. I'll wait...

I watched us compete in the 80s but not win anything meaningful, suck in the early 90s, then a blip of semi-success before tanking. If you had asked me in 1999 if I thought we would win a natty in my lifetime, I would have said no. Last one was in the 50s, it seemed like a dream. So am I happy to have seen 2 within a short period? Heck yes. I'd love to stay at that level as well, but to expect natties every few years is a bit lofty. I'm not that spoiled.

Same here. All of the young fans dont seem to understand just how low the program was in the late 80's and early 90's. I remember multiple years where we hoped to win 6-7 games in order to get an invite to the fu*king Indy Bowl in Shreveport!!!

Just think about that youngsters, how well do you think the Ranters would have handled that?

** I forgot to add that this is why I will ALWAYS have some love for Saban (and Miles) no matter how much I currently despise him for leaving us and ending up at of all places Bama! He gave me something that I never dreamed would happen in my lifetime.

We have participated in 1/5th of the SEC championships in 25 years. See how if you word things differently it sounds better.

Thread is talking about a 25 year time span. We won 2 Natty’s in that period and am thankful, however over a 25 yr period we have been more mediocre than great.

You're counting much of the 90's in there which was LSU's darkest period in football. LSU was terrible, then great, then good. Average that out, and yes, you get some level of mediocrity. I'll take that with SEC and NCs over consistently good with no championships.
