It was clear as the game was coming to an end that the students were running on to the field. If you watch the TV broadcast there is some bozo marshall/security guard, who roughs up some kid who wanders into the endzone right before the final seconds ticked off. He then aggressively points at the crowd about to run onto the field like he is going to stop all 2-3 thousand of them from coming on. He tries to play Rambo by taking one on before realizing how stupid it is and gives up.

This is what I recall as well. I was at the top of the student section, but no one sat the entire game!!! We were up yelling and screaming our heads off all game.

And I still love the pregame festivities when Florida fans tried to mock the student section with their "Work 'Em Silly Gators" banner to only have it taken by a student, thrown into the student section, and ripped to shreds.

I was in the student section that night as well, and I can confirm NO ONE sat down in that section the whole game. I as so exhausted after that one it felt like I'd PLAYED in the game. I also remember smelling like rum and coke from all the plays that students threw their drinks in the air to celebrate.

Still the greatest college football game I've ever attended. I still own the Sports Illustrated with Faulk on the front AND the Reveille that came out on campus after the game.

I remember Faulk telling Lee Corso after the game that the hurricane Tigers came through Baton Rouge, in response to Corso saying pregame that it would take a hurricane coming through Baton Rouge for the Tigers to win. Corso then proceeded to put on an LSU skull cap mask. The magic was really back, until Morris Watts and Carl Reese departed, and exposed DiNardo’s poor coaching and bafoonery. Sound familiar?

Awesome game. I was in the student section and couldn't hear the band.

I was there!

I can’t think of a better night to have been in attendance at Tiger Stadium.

The only game that can top it (of games I’ve attended home and away) is the 2001 SEC Championship.

Well, maybe the 2002 Kentucky game, that was a hell of a ride!

I watched that game just outside of Camp Pendleton with some guys I was in the marines with and we all equally hated Florida. What a great game to watch.

And I have that sports illustrated still to this day in a box in my attic.

After the game there was the game day recap and LSU fans stormed the game day area (before they had nets and security) and began chanting “Corso’s a homo!” While they were filming live. Then fans started throwing drinks at the set. The crew was soaked.

Thus the nets behind the game day set and fencing to keep fans away from the set.

Also, peak tiger stadium was when they allowed the students to throw drinks after a score. That was awesome to watch when we scored.

miss those days when the fans didn't deck themselves head to toe in "gameday gear." When did that all change?
I don’t. I never understood why lsu fans didn’t wear their colors at the game.
Was it too uncool to show your colors and support your team? By the way I was at this game too and it was indeed my favorite game ever to attend in person.

I've never heard anyone else mention it but some students held up a huge sheet in the endzone that read:

tigErs
Spank
sPurrier's
johNson

Of course a little double entendre with Florida's starting QB being Doug Johnson....and of course the student section erupted.
